You really think that there are artists that honestly don't care about their music? You guyz are going overboard.

There is no definition to cheese, only "Commercial" which means something that is appeling to a large amount of people, at it's time (In 40 years pop might be underground, though it's name suggests POPular Music...).

The meaning of 'Cheesy' is borrowed from 'Corny' which simply means "Cliche". Cheesey = Cliched. Period.

Basically what Mr Mystery said. Of course almost every producer makes his tracks for the money too. BUT as soon as the greed for money outweighs the artistic motivation..we have cheese

For me, a track that tries too hard is cheese (read: louds synths, overpowering melody, meaningless vocals). Similarly, a track that has no originality, something that simply follows the formulaic breakdown-climax pattern from the 2002 trance production factory (read: Ligaya) making no attempt to distinguish itself from the million of other tracks from its genre is cheese, and most importantly, something not made from the heart is cheese.
Am I going to get flamed for this. :rolleyes:

cheese = ppk

i loved ppk - ressurection, it was something new
but their latest track (reload i think) is like a few notes changed to ressurection and pure commercial made in 2 hours for making money as soon as possible. I wanna punch them in their face :whip: :whip: same with : ian van dahl, lasgo, milk inc, ... Go work in a factory or something, there people will have more respect for what you do.

Yep. First of all, Ligaya isn't cheese. If you call Ligaya cheese, you just don't know what cheese is or your definition is really weird. Second of all, Ligaya has a huge build-up, way better than most tracks. Nevertheless, this thread's purpose is not to discuss Ligaya.

Trance is not cheese. Are you teling me Tiesto - Suburban Train is cheesy. No. Ian Van Dahl, Scooter, Lasgo - all cheesy. Cheesy tracks are very simple structure wise with that annoying catchy riff and pointless vocals. If it has a ring-tone for it, its almost certainly cheesy!
dvd
hehe milk inc is cheese.... hmm get it?
