Anyhow, we got there around 1am and the line was ridiculous! Thankfully we had pre-sales so we were in within 5-10 min. TBH,I kinda felt out of place. Lots of hipsters/coke heads for sure and I'm far from one. We even saw people get kicked out left and right for snorting. People were getting busting trying to sneak in too.

i didn't see any of this, but then again, i was pretty sloshed so i probably missed a lot of interesting stuff happening. :) |

| we skipped out because I'm getting over a cold and Gina just got sick. We're headed to the CRSSD festival in SD so we'll catch him there ;) |

Wasn't a single thing memorable about it for me, bland, flowless, and cookie cutter.
Didn't have a bad time by any means though. |

that seems to be the general consensus. Just goes to show you that some DJ's are better off in a dark warehouse. |

| I mean i feel bad for true LA music fans. Having lived in both Miami and NYC the djs bring another level at those places (especailly Output). I feel we get jipped out of quality sets and parties out here |

Unfortunately a lot of DJs come into LA with the stereotype "LA bottle service crowd" mentality and it up. Even Adam Beyer said it on his radio show, and said "sorry, this set is from LA so it's different than what you're used too, because that's what they like there."
They really need to drop that because there are plenty of people here ready for quality music. There are still tons of great sets being played, you just need to avoid the standard club rotation to get it. |

One of his Drumcode episodes, I don't remember the number or exactly what he says, it's been awhile. I would assume it was the one from EXLA, which I think was his second set. |

| If you want to HEAR good sets and forward thinking underground music DO NOT go to Commercial clubs. |

well no man, but when was the last time maceo played a warehouse in LA? he's been at exchange the last couple of times. if the only way people in LA can get good music is at a warehouse, then there's only a certain set of DJs we can see, because the undergrounds can't afford the bigger names. it's ridiculous that we can't get a quality set out of a bigger-name DJ like a maceo plex or an adam beyer because they think LA can't handle it, but won't play a warehouse.
also, while we're on the subject of what beyer said, he can kiss my ass. if he was playing create or greystone manor that would be one thing but i've never heard of a DJ take crap at exchange or avalon for playing quality music. quit stereotyping us and give us a real set. |

You might not get djs like Maceo Plex but you do get amazing djs that are even better. For example we just had Robag. Over the years I have seen huge djs such as: Ben Klock, Marcel Dettman, Chris Leibing, Pan Pot, Dj Koze, Blond:ish, Eddie Richards, Maya Jane Coles, Craig Richards, Slam, Ian Pooley, and... I even saw Maetrik (Maceo Plex alter ego) years ago. |
