Does anyone in this forum attend Monash Uni at the clayton campus and was at uni today? If so can anyone enlighten us all on the events that happened there today?
Ive heard so far that 2 students were killed and another 5 were in a serious but stable condition.
The police have captured a man and have taken him into custody for further question at the glen waverley police station.
It sure is scary though. Who would do such a horrible thing? Makes you have second thoughts about different things thats for sure. :nervous: |

i was there. im home now though. a bit shaken up i think. it was on the 6th floor, i was in a class on the 8th floor when it happened. a couple of people came to our class and said theres been reports of a shooting, so lock the doors or something, stay here until its safe or something. so we did.
i talked to a friend who was on the floor below. they heard there was an accident or something so they were walking out (class finished early) then they see this cop who starts yelling at them to get out, theres a guy with a gun. its not exactly what you want to hear.
and i know someone who was 2 classerooms down. i also saw someone who said they were there in the corridor, and they saw one of the wounded guys crawling, he was shot in the leg and bleeding, he asked them for help and they were just standing there shaking, then he said just run and get out, i think the dude was still there. he was ing running around or something. im walking down the fire escape stairs thinking this guy could ing run out the door any second. its scary. you see stuff like this happen in america and that, but you dont realise how scary or worrying something like this is until it happens close to home. i dont know if there was just one guy or another one as well, but they have one suspect and he got tackled buy some people and they nabbed him, ing heros. im sitting in my class thinking if this guy is serious a ing locked door isnt gonna stop him.
i think the class was a macro economics one or something, dont know what year though.
i know one person doing that but hes fine, was at home all day i think. i think everyone i know there is ok, but until i hear from all my friends ill still be a bit worried. and im supposed to have an exam on wednesday... |

Far out thats pretty full on!
Glad your doing alright though Philby, hopefully all your mates are sweet too.
Hopefully you can all pull together in time for your exams coming up.
Yeh you only hear about that kinda over in the states. Not here, Australia of all places you would think is the safest place in the world in be in. Makes you realise not to take everything for granted. |

it was some asian dude, like 30 or something.

what has to go through your mind to make you do this?
i mean surely you must be thinking at some stage that this person is going to die? you killed them! they arent going home to their family, they wont be going out with their friends on the weekend, nothing! doesnt it occur to them? how can you do this and just think ahh stuff it ill shoot them anyway??? what has to happen to drive you to do something like this?:eyespop:

Just one tragedy after another, i dunno what this means but more and more people are living their lives in fear and that's another tragedy in its own.
Relieved to hear you're well Philby (in a physical sense) and our condolences do go out to the loved ones of the victims of this heinous crime.

Sad but true, as indicated in this report . But until I get all the facts I'm not gonna presume anything.
Take care everyone and take care of each other. |

Yeh thats some hectic stuff... Sorry to hear what happened... I myself have been through many similar expriences...
A few years ago, 2 of my best friends were shot during a party...
They were okay after a few weeks in hospital, but one of them suddenly had a blood clot from the shot wound and died.
And earlier this year, a guy that I use to know died from a shooting @ a night club...
Fruckin pisses me off with all these hard s carrying guns, thinking to themselves "Don't mess with me, i'm a gangsta cause i have a gun" !
People just don't know when to stop... |

| We were told about these happenings in school this arvo, said we could call home if we had bros/sisters there. Scary , so much worse when it hits home. This kinda stuff hasn't really happend in Australia before apart from the Port Arthur masacre, but now, having had it happen I can relate to all the other countries when they experience the same stuff for the 10th time over. |

| Feel for you Philby, i had a bunch of friends on the 7th floor who where pretty scared and they had to evacuate down the fire escape... Luckly there all ok. I was in the computer labs and so nothing was going on there. I was pretty scared about where my girlfriend was but luckly she was in the library not in french the floor below.... Not a nice start to the week. Everybody at halls is a bit shaken up. I think i might practice on the decks for a bit and forget about studying for my exam on thursday. |
