After 4 knee surgeries, 2 torn rotator cuffs, a torn hip flexor

And countless amounts of other sports related injuries, I have finally come to realize the importance of stretching and doing yoga everyday.
When I hit 30 everything changed. Those old injuries snuck back up out of nowhere. I stopped working out because I felt like . For the last 4 months I got back into training but drastically changed the way I work out. I focus mainly on my core my back and
My legs. Everything else is secondary. Secondly I added a crap ton of stretching and yoga. The difference on how my body feels is insane. My rotator cuffs don't hurt as much. I no longer have any backaches. I lost 25 pounds of weight. Even my legs (I used to have the tightest IT bands and hamstrings from all my knee surgeries) feel way better than they did. In soccer someone took a video of me playing a year ago and after watching it I noticed very quickly how injured I look when I run. Some girl I know snachatted me the other day of me playing soccer an the difference in the way I run now is night and day.
This is a warning to all you kids out there. You may think your invincible in your 20s, you may be in great shape and heal from injuries quick but it will catch up to you. Stretching is the most important thing you can do for yourself before
And after a workout. Treat your core and your back even more importantly than your arm shoulders and chest. Pushing exercises were always my favourites but I've learned that pulling exercises are wayyyy more important.
If you ever see that jacked guy in the gym and his posture looks like it's sunken in forward, he may look jacked but any money says he's in a world of pain. |

Probably should have Added this to the work out thread but couldn't find it. I wanted
To post this because stretching and yoga is never talked
About at all. Yet it's the most important thing you can do. Being flexible while
Playing sports is 10x more
Important then strength. It'll make you quicker and unpredictable on the field or court. |

| You can't tell anyone anything about their health. Most people prefer to find out the hard way how their choices in their youth will affect them as they age. |

I heard that even at 30, you can recoup about 90 percent of your body from all the drinking, smoking, etc. you've done if you quit. True?
At 40, it's 80 percent. At 50, it's 70 percent. And so on.
BTW, I heard from science. True story. |

| Yeah, I've been doing yoga pretty much every day now after I pulled a tendon in my knee (or something, I was too lazy to actually go through the NHS system :o ) a few months ago. Definitely improved my workout game, as well as my general sense of well-being since then. |

| I know yoga is good for you but I still think it's gay and will try to put off doing it as long as I can. Besides a niggah limp is cool. |

as a male, stretching, yoga and pilates is nearly never talked about. The only information written are by the most flamiest gay dudes who are toothpicks and also have how to apply cosmetics videos on youtube. info is hard to find unless you are willing to listen to a girl. Which makes it even harder for us to pay attention too.
That being said if more men could overcome their fear of looking like a royal fag, there would be a lot more people playing sports into their 40s |

| Well yeah that goes without saying. I probably could have been a yoga master if it was for the women and the gays cornering the yoga market. |

Agreed. It really is all about the core and gluts. You have to have a stable base to operate from.
I hate doing core work though (and so I don't). |

| yoga aint gonna stop you doing an ACL. |

already did an ACL, also did my PCL, MCL and both meniscus in my left knee. they cut out pieces of my hamstring to replace those 3 ligaments and had to shave off 50% of my meniscus.
Yoga helps now after recovery since my whole leg tightens up after any type of athletic movement. The bursa below my left knee would swell and be in agonizing pain because of the tightness from my IT hamstrings and thighs (bursa is where all those muscles would meet and would get super inflammed). trust me dude Yoga is very helpful.
Eventhough I work out my legs weekly and pretty hard. My left leg has never gotten back to the same strength and size of my right leg. This imbalance causes a lot of other issues. Yoga definitely helps to relieve the pain from those issues and gives way more range of motion. |
