Suggestion to prove the forums functionality

I was reading some forum posts here. And some of them have good advices, helpful tips. But usually the good info is buried between pages and pages of silly comments that have nothing to do with the topic (and usually are rude attempts of trolling).
My suggestion is that all off topic comments would be deleted. Naturally that would require more work from the administors (but maybe there could be a report button for off topic posts). Since internet is FULL of forums where trolls can frolic freely let this forum be dedicated to music + helping each others.
Or is this just girl's logic that you guys don't agree at all? :whip: |

"Mark as inappropriate"-button would be nice. |
You can always . I've never tried if it works, though. |

While waiting for TA2.0 just use ignore. Ignore Juan and you're fine.
For some reason he never get the ban. |
I already apologized and told her that i would stop. Ignoring won't solve anything. Others would still be able to read my nasty comments. |

Guys (and Gal), we've been through this numerous times.
Broadly speaking the Production Forum has been somewhat self moderated and the mod (stu) really steps in when things get out of hand.
The reason it has stayed like this is that there are times when the wide berth actually yields some interesting discussion that otherwise would not have happened.
Now granted, it's gotten a little out of hand recently but honestly that's the fault of a few individuals and not the way most avid regs behave.
It's basically a "we don't want to piss in out own sandpit" mentality. I will say it's gone too far recently in terms of leniency, and there's been too many meta-threads and discussion about the forum itslef, so I think we need to tighten up a little bit.
Worst_mod_ever is actually probably the most active and level mod we've had in a long while but there's always been a slightly hands off approach, which personally I prefer as there's nothing worse that an overmoderated forum.
My advice is that if you see something you don't like, call it out in the thread, then PM Stu. If it is out of line, the user in question will at least get a warning, a holiday or maybe even feel the full force of the ban hammer.
(by the way, Stu is SushiPunk aka Birdworrier). |

| Not sure if you're familiar with Metafilter. It's heavily moderated (comparatively), which is precisely what makes it such a pleasant place to read and participate. |

| You're forgetting this is a music community. Studio / Roadie Humor goes with the territory, as do the drunken and or drug fueled tangents. |

Often I don't know if a thread starter is just having fun / trolling or whether they have a serious question. People should make an opening post clear and concise not vague and using odd wording.
I often think a couple of posters have several alts each.
A routine example of badly presented opening posts are those that ask how a certain sound was made but then don't give enough information as to EXACTLY which sound in a track they have in mind. I saw one a few weeks back where I did not have a clue which sound the OP was on about. |

We should excuse sexist/racist/homophobic 'jokes' because that's just boys being boys? Screw that. |

The one thing that has kept me coming back to this place is the free mentality. If someone needs to be told to off, we have been free to do so. There has been no need to sugarcoat any opinions or act overly polite for the fear of getting banned. Big egos have been kept in check here.
Unfounded attacks and deliberately derailing threads should not be tolerated, but otherwise the moderating should be as loose as it has been. |
