I don't think he's a genius at all. The stuff he did back at the peak of his career circa 1999 was very catchy and has a 'feel good' vibe, but it was also very fluffy anthemic stuff which got old very quickly. I listened to that when I was 16 and it got me into trance, but I grew out of quickly and haven't listened to it for years.

'the genius of' is quite different from 'genius' i'm sure you will appreciate.
this may be his greatest tune. i love the transformation from the original, this is how a remix is done... the track has balls, trademark ferry bass in full effect - and the cheesy hook of the original has been worked brilliantly and subtly into the mix. bringing it from cheddar fest to a classy trance track.
ferry did the best basslines in trance, and here is the evidence :D

the club mix is great too, but piano and bass in the original is too good.
This (in my opinion of course) is probably the worst thing Ferry ever put his name to, just one of those tracks I could never get into.
rubez
shame on you.
Syntonic
His remix of Adagio For Strings is still my favorite mix. System-F will always be my favorite project of his. Out Of The Blue LP was pretty good and features my two favorite Ferry tracks...Indian Summer and Insolation.
This was the last Ferry production I bought and it was pretty good Trance for 2005.

his last decent one is around 2010 i believe, has a really nice progressive-euphoric russian vibe.

adagio for strings would have had the biggest impact on my life than any song ever. wouldn't have met all you miserable cunts without it.
