uncle ferry is at a real low point in his career musically, and i don't see him recovering, so it's worth remembering when he was balls-out awesome. it was clear early on he had the knack, pumping out a quality to quantity ratio to make the rest of the trance scene look incompetent.
here, his dance valley theme for 2001, i seem to recall ferry saying he bashed it out in a couple of days, is a firm favourite of mine - and stands the test of time no question. not only that, it rides the thin line between being ultra-cheesy but a class act at the same time - an extremely effective tune.
all other years of the dance valley theme tunes have been expendable, disposable utter DOG . but ferry's is a stone cold classic as far as i am concerned, and nothing short of a masterpiece. the DnB section just elevates its greatness, the drop is ing monumental, the awesome groovy bassline similar to 'in the beginning' is in, the addictive percussion sounds, razor sharp synth lines and little samples of acid... just outstanding execution. EPIC rollercoaster of a track, weighing in at 9 minutes.
i invite everyone who has not heard it for a while to cast fresh ears on it, and remember a time when ferry was great :D
