Levon Vincent or Craig Richardson?

Tomorrow night I have a choice: Levon Vincent or Craig Richardson. I put it to TA to inform me about which would be the best choice.
I don't know much about either of them as DJs. I liked most of Levon Vincent's album (albeit I thought a few tracks were dog), but I'm wondering if he's a consistently good DJ or if he's one of your Resident Advisor names who mainly got big off his productions. Richardson I feel is a good bet as a DJ - from everything I've heard he's a seasoned pro.
Other factors: Vincent is playing on my doorstep - I could walk home from the club in 10 minutes. However, the club in question has an atrocious soundsystem. Richardson is playing in Manchester so it would mean a train journey. I've never been to the club he's playing at, but Manchester is generally a class night out.
Help me out, bros. |

Can you even enjoy the music with an 'atrocious' sound system? Personally, bad sound just instantly makes me not care about the music, no matter how great the DJ is.
I've heard bits from both of them but not really enough to give an super informed opinion. I'd go with Richardson though, I think Levon is a capable DJ but definitely overhyped based on his production. He can drop great, deep nerd material that isn't frequently played but he can also be really bland and boring at times (cue Mark Anthony storming in and informing us that Levon is the greatest DJ since sliced bread :p) |

| I just remembered Levon is playing downstairs at Berghain next week, i'll definitely check that out if it's a decent timeslot. |

| Last time I went they turned it up really ing loud and it was acceptable for dancing, but my ears were ringing for about 24 hours afterwards. The problem is this club monopolises the decent bookings for 500-ish capacity nights in Leeds. They plaster "Funktion One" on all the flyers as well. This club alone is making me contemplate buying some ear plugs. |

| I've said it before and I'll keep being an nuisance here because I've got no experience with either as a DJ: get some ing plugs, regardless. |

I saw Vincent last fall and it was quite enjoyable, but I think I'd probably go with Richardson, especially if the sound system is awful for Vincent.
I should really buy some ear plugs, myself. Definitely noticing a bit of tinitus these days. |

It's not even JUST tinnitus, exposure to loud sounds over time degrades your hearing ability.
I don't want you guys half-deaf in 15 years. :(

Definitely worth it, I think shows sound better with plugs, honestly.

| Okay, let's not turn this into another ear plug thread. I heard bat song the other night - my hearing can't be that bad. |

I suggest going to see Levon. The money saved on train fare will allow you to buy a proper set of musician's earplugs.
(going to pick up a third set today!) |

Levon's sets are obsure vinyl and interesting/diverse from what I've heard. Mostly house/techno. Never seen him live so my opinion is limited. Never heard the other guy at all ever. |

No I get turned off immediately and regret even showing up. Not even joking a little bit. My less ****y friends will be like wtf you're a snob. No, I know what I like and I wont settle for sound. |

Richardson imo. You'll probably regret going to the ty sounding club, regardless of the DJ.
Where's he playing in Manchester anyways? |
