I'm assuming he's refering to that case a few years back when they thought they had broken it under the English Channel, but it turned out their machines malfunctioned and imporperly calculated a measurement, or something like that.

The "marijuana community" is so wretched.

Yea, I'm not a fan of it, either. Like the feminists of druggies.

In Geneva last year. They fired a neutrino or beam of and it got there faster than expected. Albeit there is a debate on how you can label subatomic particles and those neutrinos may have been sitting there
Vivid Boy
to reach the speed of light don't you have to a mass of 0? to go faster do you have to have negative mass?
planetaryplayer
so it was thought or is thought, it was all over the news last year, has no one heard of that or anything ? also they can make 'warp' speed but not with current technology. for a ship to achieve it they need a mass of jupiter and some one came up with this ring around a spacecraft that could achieve it with a fraction of that mass, but its still out of reach for our scientists and engineers.

but to the original point, to the measurement it was like 837 km/s faster than light speed. if it was a true reading than some equations would need to be reworked

i can't find anything on it on the web so maybe i just heard the news 2-3 years late and they proved it didn't happen
Vivid Boy
I actually did hear about it. I did hear about the warp drive thing. However, it stemmed from the em drive which has not been tested in a complete vacuum just yet. Em drive could make us be able to reach up to 9% of the speed of light. basically it is propulsion without using a fuel to push us. It uses microwaves within a cylinder to push against quantum particles for thrust.

pretty cool .

yeah, there was a small technical error which explained the issue.

I don't understand a lot of this , but have read commentary from those who do on another forum, and they're of the opinion that the Em drive only "works" due to errors in the experiments.
Vivid Boy
as of last week Nasa tested it inside of a vacuum here on earth and the test showed the same results. They haven't tested it in a complete vacuum yet aka in space.
