Basically some hobbiest scientist said he came up with an "em drive" science world laughed at him and no major associations took him seriously. Smaller labs decided to test his experiment and they got the same results. The chinese tested it got the same results. Britain tested it got the same results. It finally made Nasa say ok this let me see what youre talking about. Nasa tested it last week in a vacuum and they got the same results.

still could be a total up and not happen but we may discover something new as to why we are getting these results which will be something new for us anyways. |

sweet, i'll have to pop over to the skeptics forum and see what their take is. I knew the chinese had replicated it, but nobody trusts those cunts!
the issue I recall was that when the device was put together backwards (ie designed not to work), it still showed the same level of thrust. |

if the initial engine gets to 9.4% light speed, who knows what they will get to down the road. if they combine that with a warp drive if they can ever figure it out then we can reach alpha centauri way sooner than that 93+38 years they were talking about in the article.
in futurama they went faster than light with their spacecraft by moving the space around them. god i miss that show |

Here's a stoner idea:
What about uploading a self organizing bio identity of ourselves into exoplanetary plasmonic satellites atteched to them comets.

scientists broke the light speed barrier, so c may not actually be a constant, and going faster may not actually reverse time. or the equations hold true but light isn't the speed limit anymore |
This sorta thing seems to come up in the media once every few years. I don't think it's ever been credibly shown to be true. Unfortunately the media seems to be good at propagating ideas but not so much the retraction.

Wrong, faster than light theorems are indeed mathematical Solutions to Einstein Tensorial Equations. Not visible or experimentally attainable yet, but mathematically possible.
Kurt Godel also wrote about these closed timeline curves postulating that time travel to the past was impossible.
Therefore, not the media's fault, your fault for being uninformed. |
