The guest on Rogan's podcast talked about a guy he knew on there who wasn't good at all, actually.
He's just entertaining when he plays and people come into his chat room. Clears 50k/month off of ad revenue and donations.

For this years AGDQ (2015), I recommend watching the 'I wanna be the boshy' speed run, the 'Tetris Grandmaster' speed run, 'Battleblock Theater' speed run for some really hilarious commentary, and the 'Banjo Kazooie' speed run. Those are just off the top of my head.
funny stuff.

Not necessarily, no. Check out the user Lirik, he pretty much just plays random games and isn't particularly good at them. This goes for other "personalities" as well.
I'm amazed people are discovering twitch only just now.

yeah, right. seems crazy people would pay to watch non-pros! I guess it's still entertainment for them. I only watch pros, and only for free!

Storm is very easy to learn.
It's basically DOTA but dumbed down and more objective oriented.
1500 hours of dota though...

Not true, there's plenty of fairly personalities who are popular because they are funny or amusing commentators. It certainly helps to be good but it's not strictly necessary. It does however always require some form of talent.

It's not much fun if you've played a bit of dota already. The things that make it "accessible" are the same things that mean that a dominating via a killer item and timing combo just isn't possible. After playing it for a while it's just nowhere near as exciting.
