The fact you have to state that is rather lame :o
So no, it's not worth noting. |

| I think it ties in nicely to the overall pattern of Juan using every online strategy he can find to look like a hotshot DJ, thus increasing the irony of him accusing anyone else of "hiding behind a keyboard". |

First I heard of Joel was back in 2007 while riding the different IRC-channel tides. His music reminds me of some fond times from the high school days.
He doesn't road this board anymore, does he? Would really like to ask him something. |

| I don't know, can't even name a single track he made. |

| While we're on the topic, how did ever get so famous anyways? I doubt it's the music alone. Was it really just the silly mouse head? |

| Well, he also was the first to invent 8th Note progressive house, which initially earned him some awards on Beatport for some reason. The mouse head gimmick and occasional social media outbursts has sustained his career ever since. |

Eh, I dunno. There's a huge difference between his Faxing Berlin era and then post Ghosts n' Stuff etc. Faxing Berlin was an 'underground' hit but it hardly hit the mainstream, I doubt most of his current fans have even heard it. |

The bridge between the two would probably be I Remember, which did get him some radio play but was part of that first stage of his career.
Mostly though, it was all the social media hype that really propelled him, people making memes of his mouse head and all that. As I recall, Joel was incredibly aggressive in getting his image out there, frequently chatting it up on boards, directly responding to criticisms, and generally not playing the standard PR game. Unlike so many EDM producers, he actually seemed approachable, if ofttimes snarky as , which endeared him to a loyal following, snowballing from there. Folks would go to a show where he'd be performing, and the mousehead would help him stand out from a crowd of generic jocks. That gets posted on YouTube, more people want to see what his live show's all about, etc., etc. |

Deadmau5 sucks. Everybody here in the states thinks he's some sort of a revolutionary act. His music is boring, and some of my "DJ FRIENDS" overhype the out of him because they've never heard proper European EDM.
Deadmau5 admitted himself that he misses artists like Art of Trance, Union Jack, and other Platypus records.
but I gotta give the guy credit for making fun of Armin Van Buuren though |

You pretentious fool; spell it correctly if you want to at least seem like you know what you're talking about.
Faxing Berlin was probably the first song I heard of his, after hearing a bunch of hype around 'that mouse guy,' presumably around 2007ish? Listening to it again now, it's definitely not a bad track. I'd probably enjoy hearing it played out at the right moment. Not sure if there are any other of his songs I ever enjoyed, though.
No clue what he's up to these days. EDM has blown up in such a weird way in the last few years, in a way that not even he seemed to expect, I'd be shocked if he was as well known as a lot of the pop acts out there. He doesn't seem to be in the top20 Billboard lists, etc. |
