Boggles my mind people still subject themselves to DJs like MS when there are a hundred and one acts who are banging it out better -- and for longer.

Are your ears stuck in the past, people?

I think it's due to lack of acts out there in la. Before I left la MS all night sets were highlights. But now over here we get 11hr sets of Dixon and ame, 8 hr Sven vath sets, 12 hr Danny T, 8 hrs of Len faki or leibing, something LA peeps dont get

WOW! We get all the sets... the 2 hour Aoki festival sets.

lmao, yup.

i mean, i've really gotten into techno this year, but at same time, i still enjoy listening to markus too, so nothing wrong with enjoying and listening to what your heart desires. :)

I just think that Markus Schulz brings the right combination of music and people. I love that at his OTC shows there are enough music knowledgeable people as well as nice looking people that combined make it a nice vibe. I would rather have a nice mix of people rather than a room full of EDM posers or on the other end of that, a room full of music snobs.

Vibe is everything and I always have a good time at these OTC. The music evolves throughout the night and people are in tune with it. There are only a few people who I trust enough to travel across the US for.

If you complain about what you hear at one point of the night, then you are missing what these nights are about. It's a journey that yes, even drifts through some commercial stuff but in the big picture makes the night dynamic.

good DJs don't need set times on what they are going to play at certain point in the night...

Markus posted on IG or Twitter the blocks of times in which he was going to play certain stuff. I honestly thought that was pretty lame. For a guy who idolized Tenaglia, Markus should know better. That's pretty weak programming if Markus has to do it like that

seeing that does not take the attendee on a music journey.

Can't find the pic, but you mean:

Pt 1 Warm Up
Pt 2 Heating Up
Pt 3 Main Show
Pt 4 Chaos
Pt 5 Rabbit Hole
Pt 6 Classics

?????

Sounds like he was just hyping the night. Doesn't say anything about playing this song or that at this time...etc.

i didn't say anything about playing this song or that song at a certain time.

to me, by him doing that shows a lack of proper programming.

it goes with the notion of "pre-reordered" sets because he is at it already mapped what route he is going to go during the night

You should never try to program your set.

You should feed off the crowd and play what they want.

After the initial build up, when you get going...it should be anything goes.

You guys are impossible to please. This is why I would rather go to a party with people looking to have fun than a bunch of complainers. You find fault in everything.

You should loosen up and enjoy the world.

Bottom line...I heard great music, I met fun people...successful night.

All that says to me is he is going to start by warming up and then get harder and darker and then warm it up at sunrise. What else do you think he is going to do? I would hope a DJ would have some idea as to what he is going to go over a 12 hours timespan. And I would have to say every time I have seen Digweed do extended sets at Avalon it has pretty much followed that pattern. You can even hear Digweed go into different gears at the top of the hour. The time matters.

And personally, I don't really want a DJ to read the crowd. What if the crowd if full of douche-bags (Vegas), now I have to hear the DJ play for them. that. The DJ should play what the DJ likes. Thats why I am there.
