If you're dealing with a serious concussion, you might find Jane McGonigal's work helpful.
The key is to take it easy following the concussion.
The long-term damage comes from people rushing back to tasks they aren't cognitively ready for.
And with concussions, it's easy to trick yourself into thinking you're fine without being appropriately tested. |

| When I was in the army in Korea, I woke up in a hospital bed on Christmas morning in Seoul after getting jumped the night prior. I wish I had a picture; I'd post it. They bashed the out of my left forehead; my eye was swollen shut. If there were a video of it, I'd imagine someone kicking my head as if it were a 60-yard field goal. I still don't recall what happened the minute leading up to it or how I got to the hospital. Complete blur. Anyways, I was back to military activities within a week. And my head has never been the same since, as my TA posting history can undoubtedly prove. |

Damn uh, well I don't really think my hit was that bad. How would you know though, I guess?
The doctor was asking me questions and asked me to do a few things like closing my eyes and holding both my hands out palms up, etc, and said as far as they could tell I was fine, but I needed to be vigilant and about possible complications. |
