.. managed to give feedback on my new mix. Did nobody else see it or everyone just concluded it sucks? :p I'm just surprised because I thought it would go well over here, since it's pretty damn trance-ish as far as modern techno goes, with big ass pads and prominent space-y synthlines and .

I just listened an I guess it's a very nice mix if you like the style. I think I even like those volume/bass changes :)

So others here should have a listen too, you're right, I think it deserves some listening as IMO there are people enough here who like the style. Put NOW LISTEN MY MIX in your sig!

Juan hasn't been banned at Soundcloud yet? How is that possible?

I'll check it out dawggy

Yep, that definitely sounded like a mix broadcasting from New Detroit on Saturn's moon Dione.

I like the style you play and it's on my to listen to list FWIW.

What I'm about to say is not indicative on you as a DJ so don't take any of this personally. These songs are very slow and soft, they have no driving force. I feel like many DJs are afraid to play faster, danceable songs these days. For me this is easy listening. I would liken playing this kind of music at a club to Bruce Springsteen opening for Metallica.
I think for the style you're going for, there are still many songs that fit the deep, rhythmic, 'ethereal' style you're looking for that don't sacrifice danceability.

etc
Then again, perhaps you're not looking to make mixes suited for clubs. This is just my criticism based on the fact that I am a club DJ that typically mixes together trance at 160 :) As I said, this has nothing to do with your competency as a DJ...your mix flows nicely and these songs compliment each other, just think the songs are a bit light.

Which clubs, exactly, do you get to play at with your 160bpm trance?

And can you please list the last five times you went clubbing and the headliner on each occasion?

Local :) Nothing major. I work for a company that hosts different styles of electronic music.
I don't care too much for who's playing but off the top of my head Kid Icarus (trance @ 140), DJ Spree (happy hardcore @ 180) & Ferry Corsten were the headliners of the last few shows I've gone to. Admittedly I don't get out as much as I'd like; my area is more of a 'bar' scene, so lots of top 40.
Maybe I'll post one of my mixes here sometime. I intend on releasing a series at some point. The one mix I have posted online was semi popular as far as a small time DJ goes.
What's with the prosecution btw?

Here's the thing, a lot of the kind of music I played in that mix is deceptively soft at home or on a small bar system because it uses very deep kicks and keeps things rather stripped down. I have a lot of experience hearing techno on a big system and i've lerned that it's often the "softest" and most simple tracks that can really kick your ass. To give you an example, DVS1's tracks sound a bit tinny at home because he uses super low kicks and 808 pased percussion but they sound absolutely MASSIVE on a big system. I also can't fathom how 160 is a fun tempo to dance to, unless you've dropped a bag full of Es and need to spasm out. Approaching 140, the kicks and bass start eating each other and just get this wall of bass that IMO actually has less energy than some of the "lower" tempos (over 130 is quite fast for modern club music).

I'm just curious as to which parallel universe you inhabit.

This is why you don't beg for feedback, Woony.
