i honestly dont care what your background may be. if youre a good person i'll like ya. if you are a jerk, or try to shove who you are in my face i'll treat you like you deserve.

dosent matter what you are, only who you are....dig?

While, there are very few of them where I live, when I see them I dont think twice about it, you notice it, you walk on. The chances of them being a terrorist or whatnot are really quite slim. It's just like, calling all black people crooks, or all germans nazi's.

INCREDIBLY STUPID

I've been on the short end of racism(in my case because I'm jewish), and from experience if nothing else, I know all the stereotyping stuff is just stupid.

well in attempt to avoid a huge debate... (wait, what am i saying, this is the political forum!), i have to say that generally i have no problems with them on an individual basis....

some things i have a problem with: the politics in the middle east. How saudi and bin laden both complain about the USA being on their "holy land", yet when they were getting invaded by Iraq ten years ago, it was ok for the US to come and build bases THEN.... but now, its a problem

i can understand around mecca or what-not, but you can't very well say the ENTIRE middle-east is all holy land, and that any non-muslim on it is violating their fundamental laws of religion... it just isn't right. In our countries the church is sacred, yes, but the church is not the entire country! I know this is just minute cultural differences, but it wouldn't matter if it wasn't causing so many wars... all simply based on religion and land.

unfortunately the common denominator here is the arabs and muslims, always fighting for "their land"... problem is, they don't stick to their guns... they just have problems with it when its "convenient" for them... like the whole desert storm war... that still bothers me. Saudi and Kuwait literally begged for US support, and they said "sure, come in and have bases, sure sure!", but now they want us out.... well what the do they think is going to happen as soon as we pull out? SADDAM WILL JUST ING ATTACK AGAIN!

phew. apologies. i just get so frustrated dealing with all this everyday.

yeah yeah i know there are a lot of other factors, but this is saudi's main problem with us now, these are the complaints of the saudi citizens i have personally talked to, and these were the EXACT reasons bin laden gave for his vengeance-crusade against the "evil US"....

as far as the everyday arab, i have no problem with... its just a lot of them will have the strongest anti-US sentiment out of anyone, and they themselves have never been wronged by our country... they were just programmed to believe so by the propaganda their country and religion teaches them.

I am not saying their religion is wrong or mine is right - i believe that religion shouldn't dictate how you live your life - thats up to you... and any religion that puts SO many hatred and anger (as well as restrictive rules) in people is not a religion i agree with. And no, i'm not christian or jewish. I'm ABT-ist. ;)

Arabs & Muslims (remember that they are separate groups of people, not one and the same - half of Lebanon is Christian) are exactly the same as the rest of us.

But just like every single religion around the world, there is a lunatic fringe. And it's the lunatic fringes that tend to get noticed far more than any others....

Modern Muslims are mostly nice people but the conservative ones are just as annoying as those right-wing Christians.

People need to learn that politics and religion do not match!

See now your starting to seperate christians and muslims. Your saying that christians are just like "the rest of us" but the problem is with the muslims. That's not true at all! Religion isn't the seperating factor. It's the regions. You can't look at Saudi arabia or 'the arabian pen.' the same way as the rest, like syria, lebanon,etc... every area has it's own policies. I personally can't stand the saudi's policies/laws ....I believe in the seperation of religion and the govt!!!

That's exacty what i'm talking about.... The laws in Saudi are just plain ridiculous! I can't stand it. There's nothing in islam that set's such harsh policies.
Basically why i'm soo upset, is because their extremism and their retarted laws are giving a bad impression about arabs and muslims. Not all arabs share the same veiws and opinions.

The arabs might not of been directly wronged by the US, but rather by the policies towards the middle east.
as for being 'programmed' by propaganda, doesn't that happen in the US, and almost everywhere else to a certain extent. As for their religous teachings. The religion itself does not teach them anti-US sentiment, but rather i would say the religious teachers do. The problem i see is with some of the relgious extremist sheiks.

yea, that's true! One can't generlize.

I also agree with cycloptor. I don't care where your from/what religion. If you have respect for me, i'll have respect for you. My social boundries are not set based on religion or race.

again. Not all arabs share the same veiws and opinions!

Nononono you misunderstood me, that's not what I meant at all. I was making the point that Arabs aren't necessarily Muslims, and vice-versa, which is something that seems to get conveniently forgotten...

with regards to all kinds of muslims and arabs out there i have always enjoyed their culture in terms of histroy, food, family values, friendship, hospitality... etc.
the only gruge i may hold agianst them is that i dont see enough of thier spiritual and political leaders speaking out and actually trying to do something about the terrorism, hate and violence that festers in small areas of their society. the threats coming from 'the muslim community' are very global and very serious, i think they themselves should be doing more and putting some effort to help prevent it.

Arabs rule :D We had some "arab trend" a few months ago here, and everybody would listen to arab music, eat arab food and stuff like that. Our greatest fast-food chain is "Habib's" that sell wonderful sfihas! They cost just 7 cents :D

Don't generalise: terrorists suck. Arabs rule :) Terrorist arabs suck even more for making such nice people look bad :p

hmm....i'm realizing that more and more of the Arab/Muslim people around here are speaking out against US's policy and such. I dunno what to think, people are people, and i respect differences and people alike... I believe there is a lot of dictatorship and corruption by leaders in Muslim/Arab countries that control what is being said to the public by the media and such, creating a one-sided hatred toward America.
