Have a quick question...Are promos lesser in terms of sound quality compared to the proper release? I wanna purchase some rare vinyls but they are all promos. Dunno if its worth the money to buy them or not.
Thanx

hell yeah its worth it, promos are usually worth more cause less print.....:D
DJ LIQUID
why buy when you can get them for free? ;) ;) ;)
DJ LIQUID
i dont think they are of less quality...they are usually more rare...and have the remixes that everyone wants but cant find

well it depends alot on the label, most small labels.. who maybe have a upcomming hit and release it on promo 12" pretty offen press it in sucky quality... cause they dont really have the proper ressources like the big labels! so promo's from the big label's u can xpect the same quality as the retail.. but some promo's arent good.. they can be spun like 50 times.. and off to the trashcan!

Those are acetates and promo's aren't usually acetates.

man i hate ty promo's.. the worste are bootlegs, ive heard some bootlegged tracks before and they sound mad weak! as far as their worth, the worth, if u like the song, then get it, if u don't like it, don't buy it because u end up getting it out of the hands of someone who might really want it and actually use it for the purpose it was made.. as in not to be sitting on a wall somewhere! im talking about rare vinyls if i lost any of you.. sorry im really tired.

I'm a promo addict, I think it adds so much value to a record, especially the numbered limited edition ones, feels good being 1 of 100 people in the world with a tune :D Plus when you get them for free its all the better!

Quality is very rarely poor!

I hope you play the record!! well watever, its yours and you will do what you wish..

a perfect example of what im saying (well its not really a promo, but rather a limitted print) would be the Ayu - M Ep.. we all know that this is virtually impossible to get your hands on one unless you want to shell out $40 on ebay, however i remember how in this very forum people were having counts on how many they had and i think i remember some people having over 5 copies of it.. too me thats insane, why does someone need 5 copies when they only need 1? ok ok, for the collectors item vibe, well then fine keep an extra, but that still leaves 3 copies of that album that are being kept out of other dj's hands that would be making use of the records instead of shelving them.. bah, anyhow, im a fan of promos too, although i have had my share of bad presses. i used to think it was because they tend to be really thin, but i have a couple almost paper thin vinyls that pack as much of a punch as those thick/heavy suckers!

I'm currently after a record from Sharaz and its worth about 50 to 60 bucks.

Still debating to get it because its a good tune and I want it in my collection.

But that shows you, more limited records u own, more bucks u can get back if you end up into trouble and need quick cash......:D

if you only need 50-60 bux to get yourself out of a bind, sheit i'd like to find some binds like that to get into.. but who really only needs 60 bux soo bad that they need to sell one of their "expensive" trakcs.. i'm sure you could pull 60 bux worth of bunk ass tunes looking old and taking up space in your crates .
