Natural Selection (half life mod) (pg. 2)

| Ok, I downloaded it, and it looks great, but when I try and filter the servers, Natural Selection isn't an option! There is only CS and HL which is strange because I have 7 HL mods that usually show up. What do I do? |

Download the GameSpy Arcade installer.
You'll find lots there |

wha..? strange...try reinstalling. you may have not installed in properly in the HL directory.
commanding ownz. :) ppl say the marines always lose. wtf. stupid n00bz. marines always WIN. hehe. it just how good the commander is essentially.
rule of thumb imo: secure at least ONE hive asap after you have enough resources. if you secure both hives well enough and quick enough. you can't really lose... |

| yay, finally got it working....awesome mod i must say..i love being aliens...aliens really gotta rush and secure 2 hives so they can go fade and storm the final hive before the marines can get HMG's |

Now that Ive played it more there are some serious balence issues, but I still love it. For one thing, its easy for the marines to build one infantry portal, one armory, spam everyone a shotgun, then just charge the aliens only hive. They wont stand a chance, it works 9/10 times, and the game is over in 3 minutes. Other than that, It doesnt take but one well gaurded area to turn the tide of a whole battle. The losing team will be fighting to their inevitable demise.... only it can take upwards of an hour or more for it to eventually come. No matter how hard they try they cant come back. Ive seen this happen a lot of times.
Still, this mod is very early beta. Its amazing nonetheless

Which server do you guys play at?
I love playing the aliens too.
I played one game that lasted like...over 3 hours!!
(Aliens landed up winning)
I was playing marine at that time and we bunked up in our upper level.
It took them forever to break in...
Our Siege cannons and turrets kept them at bay for a LONG time...
I played another game where no one was commander, the aliens came in and destroyed out command unit and we had NO commander.
But before the command up and left a portal did get built, so we just kept respawning lol.
The aliens had a hell of a time finding the portal...
What's your guys' favorite side? gun? alien?
Mine:
Side - Alien (since the patch it's been great)
Gun - Shotgun!
Alien - Gorge (love going to the marines base and building the D and O Towers when we're attacking) and
- Fade w/ Cloak/Adrenaline/Regeneration (go out solo and cause some havoc) :tongue3 |

you might have, but i don't use dbl as a nick when i play.

EDIT: don't know really... i like the HMG..
have mostly played as marine so i don't really know wich my favourit alien is.. have only been one.. first time i played.. didn't know a .. still don't know much, but i'm getting the hang of it.. atleast for the marines... think i will try alien some to learn how to use them.
EDIT2: oh, and as Fir3start3r said, wich servers do you play on..
i don't have any serer i play alot on yet, so i can't tell any |

Thats my clan's server (TE). Its usually up in the evenings, usually unlocked, tho sometimes we lock it, so just try it again in a bit if its locked or down.
Nothing can beat the joy of a cloaked/carapace'd/silent onos. Just stand still in a narrow hallway, wait for marines to walk right up, and chomp! I was like 70/2 or something like that on ns_nothing doing that :D |

yeah... i've been playing half-life and counter-strike for 2 years or so... and i must say... natural selection has been one of the best mods since counter-strike...

there was this one time i was marines, and the aliens just stormed us at our base while we were still building,
the damn skulks moved so fast that we had a hard time killing them, and they ended up destroying our command console, so we lost from there...lol |
