heyy pplz,
i would like 2 share some experiences i have had with big name DJ's. Firstly i would like to say that Tiesto, imo is not the world's greatest DJ, but he sure knows how 2 make the crowd happy. Me and a few mates were seeing him live, so i took along a vinyl sleeve in hope that he would sign it......and he did! He had a full conversation with me and personally signed the sleeve and shook my hand..........ever since that time my respect for him has grown a lot!!

But on the other hand, we have Paul Van Dyk. Now my little sister is only 15, and she fully has a stack of PvD vinyls and luvs the guy. She had seen how i got Tiesto to sign my sleeve, and i happened to be going to see PvD live that night. so she came up 2 me with her columbia EP sleeve and asked if i could get it signed......i took it quite happily, and she was soo excited......when i went there, when there was a short break i went upto the booth and he greeted me and shook my hand, but then when i asked him to sign it, he said No! just no! no reason or anything, then i stated that it was for my sister and he pretty much told me where 2 go, then ignored me after that. I was quite pissed off at the guy and felt like swinging him a punch, but i knew it would do no good. So anywayz i went bak home, it was about 5am when i walked in the door, and my sis was still up and she ran 2 the door 2 see if i got it signed.......it was the hardest thing 2 tell her, and she was fully gutted.

since then i have had very little respect for PvD.

but i'd like u guyz 2 share your experiences with everyone!

Sounds pretty crap that does, maybe he wasnt on a good night, still not much of an excuse.

One of the best occasions I had was when, Hemstock and Jennings, not sure of their actual names, I know one is Chris Jennings, Had finished their set, and during PvD's and Tiesto's came down and to all of us at the front of the crowd and basically joined us and danced away. They were really dead on and all, talking away, having a good laugh, if you hadnt of seen them on before or known who they where u would not even have expected them to be two famous producers:) :)

Even went in behind the stage where we couldnt get and got us all a few cans of Red bull from the fridge for the DJ's, now that gains my respect:D

I met Tiesto at his 1st Solo night at Godskitchen on 8th feb 2002. I nearly knocked his drink out his hand which he found amusing. I got his autograph after I nicked a pen of John kelly!! I had a five minute chat with him, after which he dragged me back because he had no where to lean on to sign other peoples autographs, so he used my back to lean on!!! My god and ultimate role model was using my back to sign autographs!! Anyway he is a top bloke, everytime I see him he always spends time meeting people.
Ferry Corsten is the same, I met him at Progress, Derby this year. I had a chat with his wife first coz he was in the mix. As soon as the tune had dropped he came over, we talked about punk and where trance was going. Then he signed my autograph and I left.
Judge Jules is a dodgy one, I met him when he was sober so he was ok. At Creamfields this year he let my mate whos in a wheelchair sit in the Dj box with him for 30 mins. But I have seen him battered and he ignored some people.
Guy ornadel is also a top bloke. I was chatting to him for a few minutes and he was telling me what all these wicked rare promos were that he played.

J-Sin:

Are you talking about when Paul was out here the May just gone or the one before that?

Because there are other people on this board who went to see PVD when he was out here last (me included) and a few of them got stuff signed. Plus, if my memory isn't completely failing me, he went up to the front row - midset - and starting signing things, shaking people's hands and chatting with everyone?

Maybe you just caught him at the wrong time of the night? :conf:

Anne Savage is a top bird. She was waiting to go on stage at Slinky and she came down for a chat and a few hugs and kisses. Top Bannana \o/

Energy Dance Festival 2.0 @ Greece... I was there... PvD was there for the first (?) time in Greece! The emotions were quite complicated, because the night before (06 of september) PvD cancelled his set @ some other pace. There was an official announcement @ paulvandyk.de that he had an ear illness! Anyway, we got down to Athens, we were at the festival, 2 greek djs played before, Anthony Pappa was following. PvD had to be on the decks @ 03:30, but some other TAs and me didn't expect him to show up because of the announcement!Pappa got on stage @ 01:10, instead of 00:30.We thought PvD would never show up!I took 2 of my friends and got out of the club @ 03:40 to get some fresh air and sit down a bit because we were standing up during the party a lot and we danced a lot till that hour.We got again into the club, dissapointed @ 04:00.We walked through the people to get to our place.I spoke to the TAs and we were about to go...Suddenly, a loud fuss was all over the club!I turn around and see what? PVD PREPARING TO START WITH KLEA - TIC TOC (PVD REMIX)!!! :D :D :D Dude, I was off...I shouted so loud that all the persons in range of 10m turned round and looked at me! Heh, I had freaked out!We went more to the fron @ about 5 metres from the decks and we were waiting for PvD to start his set...That was enough! One track after another, better & better! That was absolutely sweet! I was raising my hands and my thumbs trying to say "Hey, PvD, you are the man! You rule! Keep spinning this way! It's great!". But he wouldn't look at me! DAMN, I am 1.95m high, couldn't he see me? He finally saw me and got a small smile in his face! That was good, considering that he wasn't that happy during the whole night! For one moment, I saw a dude climbing up to the decks asking PvD to sign an autograph! My friends (TAs) saw him, and thought they would want one autograph too! :D But no one had the guts to do that... heh... So what were we gonna do? The tickets were "almost" intact but we had a lack of pens! :p Thank God, my friend had a Bic pen! I grabbed the 2 tickets and mine and climbed upon the decks... it was MY turn to get an autograph... I look @ PvD, he was looking @ the other direction trying to get a cue point on the vinyl... He looked @ me and told me with his eyes "WAIT!". I was waiting for my turn... He slided a bit forward and grabbed the tickets & the Bic pen... OMG, I never felt that much stupid before! I was giving PvD a Bic pen! Not a gold PARKER as he deserved! :P I thought he would throw the tickets on me because of the amount (3 tickets to sign, wah!) but he signed them on the MK2 turntable! DAMN, that was the sweetest time of my life... After signing, he gave them back to me, he smild a bit, we shook hands and he continued making an awesome set... I wanted nothing more! Even death wouldn't consider me (well, after the set ended! :P ). 3 hours of PvD, exclusively... That's all, PvD rocked! ;)

not sure if it applies to the ppl who DIDN'T get their stuff signed...but make sure you are not taking the time of the dj! he could be in the mix, about to be in the mix, having a bad nite and wants to concentrate...he's there to play music, not necessarily to sign stuff! if it was to sign stuff, he might as well have a cd/vinyl signing at the local virgin records or something.

just a point i wanted to make. :D

Sucks to hear that first post. I wonder why ?

Met Marco V back in may. I was so amazed at how humble was. I was telling him about how much I like his music. He almost seemed surprised to hear me say it. I've heard some bad things about him but he seemed like a down to earth good dude to me. Much respect for marco.
I hear alot of people who spin say how much of a train wreck Tiesto is and as a Dj hes sub par. I've have been to see him twice now and I have never seen a Dj bring so much energy to a dance floor. He doesn't do anything enertaining with the crowd to get their attention. But everyone just get so into his music its amazing. I think that you would be hard pressed to find a show that moves more feet than tiesto's. When he plays no one can not dance. Its just not possible.
This is why he is so good.

i also went to see PVD, i wanted him to sign my 12" Second Sun track, but he looked and me and pointed towards you know where, and the rest was history.
