I've heard through the grapevine that Kenny Glasgow, Matt C, Mark Oliver, Manzone & Strong + more are playing the closing but it's only regular sunday hours (2am-11am)

Carlo Lio is playing 5am-8am this coming Sunday so I would imagine that M&S are playing the same slot on the 23rd.

Hmmmm maybe a pre-shower visit to CZ

Hi :) Easy to keep the lights on when the costs are 5% of what they once were. :stongue: I do credit TA with accelerating my knowledge into depths unknown to keep things going back then. I do miss some of the mcgyver'ing that often happened. I did eventually learn it was a bad idea to ever reboot the server just before going out on a Friday night.

Not entirely true. Something Awful Forums have managed 63 million posts and 5000+ users logged in and running vb 2.2.9 (same version as here, basically). VERY Heavily modded but also a testament to how powerful the old vbulletin is/was when the proper work is done to it. The newer versions over the years looked good but backend was a complete cluster.... which is why XenForo, these days, is the only real alternative.

I said TRANCE!

You must be delusional because there was a lot of bickering on this board, many people decided not to post anymore because of the bull. Superficial friendships fell apart.

There are def many people who are still passionate about Trance.

lol. While the site is called TranceAddict it was always more of a Techno/Trance site... with a dash of Breaks/Tribal/Proggy House thrown into the mix. Also the bickering was around from day 1 and was one of the reasons people liked coming here -- you could speak your mind anonymously without worrying your thoughts would get deleted/edited.

Where is everyone? They're around...but I think the main thing that is different these days is that people are much more aware of the words they use online and are not as willing to open up about their experiences. That, tied in with how much easier it is to access electronic music AND go to events means that there is little reason for people to race to their computer to type up 5 paragraphs about how amazing their night was ...before going to bed.

Funny I was talking about this to a fellow TA a few weeks back. Not sure if its the whole Trance family garbage or just the fact that facebook took over. I miss the Roll calls and meeting fellow TAs at events.

Ahhhhh, the puff puff blow meet ups, roll calls, wing nights, premeets. There are a number of friends I still talk to all the time, would never have met them if it wasn't for this site.

I was talking to Del not too long ago about TA. How many people found their wives, husbands, and ultimately had children from meeting on this site? It is a shame that it isn't as active in Toronto as it once was, we have all gotten older, tastes change, technology changes, but the friendships, and sometimes even more, that is where this was truly special.

Guess it is something we all share, and it was awesome!

Truer words have never been spoken. Many of my closest friends are people who I've met from Tranceaddict. I am so thankful for the experiences, relationships and memories I have made thanks to Del.

Swamper, I agree that this was a great place to learn about different genres. It just sucked when you gave your opinion about a song or event and someone would rip it apart.

The bickering wasn't always in good fun and people got hurt.

It would have been good if we could discuss electronic music in a respectful way.

Oh, so pretty much what you did to me when I expressed my opinion as to why people didn't post on TOTA anymore.
planetaryplayer
also worth a note that the two main 'underground' clubs only have 2 good bookings a year, and even then its not worth going to because it will be 50$ at the door to stand behind 50 people taking photos of the DJs. it also seems like electric island has lost all appeal to most of us. no one brings up any of the interesting events happening in the toronto section any how
