On this day the tune of his tech-show we all watched over here in the 80's: 'Miraculous World'. R.I.P. Chriet (a Dutch astronomer, television presenter and popular science and technology writer).

I'm 32, born at the end of 1984 but I feel like I should've been born in 1972. The more I talk to people, listen to music, and watch old videos of the early 90's, the more I realize that you were either there for it and that time and place to experience the vibe and moment of dance music, raves, the culture of love. Last week I watched a clip of N-Joi performing Anthem at Quadrant Park. The energy and the vibe was incredible. You can't replicate that anywhere in the world, no matter how many big name festivals you have. It's kind of how Americans of a certain age refer to the summer of love in 1965 in San Francisco. You were there, or you missed it. I'm nostalgic for an era I was never a part of.

Also, in the last year, ive been listening to old music that I never knew about or had a chance to listen to. I've come to the conclusion that 1990 and 1991 were THE years for music. It was the prime years for alternative rock and grunge, hip hop and rap were in their prime; techno, house, jungle, DnB, and trance were in their infancy. Creativity and diversity were being promoted. I think I also like the raw sound better than what you get today. Less polished or processed. I suggest checking out various form of music from that era, you won't be disappointed.

/I should probably start a 1990-1991 thread

awesome stuff and awesome times , i was born in 1991 so thats why i asked, but i also feel like i was born maybe a decade too late, its funny how that works sometimes ..

now I'm going to go on discogs and research the early 90's .

Nice. Cross referencing with Discogs is a good idea, I do it all the time. That's the goal, learn more. My main suggestion would be that you shouldn't limit yourself to one genre, and you should check out as many as you can. There are so many amazing tracks in each during that time period. Techno, Breaks, Hardcore, Jungle, Deep House, Italo House, New Beat, Leftfield, Ambient, Trance, Hard Trance, Drum n Bass. Feel free to post when you find a standout track.

A gem from 1993

Old timer here (born in 76). I grew up listening to classic rock (Floyd, Zeppelin, etc.) on vinyl, as my dad had a billiard table, so all the uncles would come over to shoot pool (aka, drink and get ed up). In addition to the classic rock vinyl, dad had the Chariots of Fire soundtrack by Vangelis. This, along with ELP's Brain Salad Surgery vinyl (talk about awesome cover art!), were my first introductions to "electronic music". I was hooked then and have never looked back.

This is one of my favs from Vangelis.

88-90 Proto Acid EP Mike Dunn presents MD III Chicago Acid released by Clone's sub-label "Jack For Daze" in Dec 2016. Loving this EP especially this track 'Acid Mayhem.' Not sure if Dunn recorded it recently or they're tracks that never made it to wax from the vaults and remastered.
