TA DJ Hall of Fame submission thread
View this Thread in Original format
ziptnf
TA has a long history of users sharing content; music they have personally produced or epic sets of music that they mixed together and recorded. We have a woefully incomplete/missing archive of the legendary mixes from over the years, and the time has come to dig deep for sets from both active/inactive users and create an indexed database where we can access them.

THIS IS NOT THE HALL OF FAME THREAD. That will be made later with proper formatting and sorting. This is for submissions only.

Submission Rules:

1. Must be made by a TA User. Famous DJ's are not allowed unless it was a set mixed before they were famous, and still it must have been posted HERE.
2. Required information for a Hall of Fame entry:

  • A copy of the file, either on your personal hard drive, CD, or a link on the web. Try DropBox, MEGA, or Google Drive for any files larger than 200 MB. Anything under that can go on zippyshare or another host. Even if you only have a name, we can search together in our own collections to try and find it. Making a submission without a copy of the file is fine, as long as we can find it eventually. However, it probably won't be indexed until the file is found.
  • The tracklist. Incomplete tracklists are fine, missing tracklists are not.
  • The genre
  • The name and date created/posted/mixed
  • (optional) The link to the thread on TA

3. I'm on the fence with radio series. If a user has made a lot of mixes under one series name, with high quality tunes every time (thinking Spike Witney's Windmill Sessions, or even the Atmospheric Energy podcast) I think it could be fair to include. I'd like other thoughts on that.
4. Submissions may be confirmed or denied by fellow users. In general, most people don't have time to listen to entire sets to verify, so only speak out about a set if you have heard it before and don't consider it to be worthy.

What sets do YOU think deserve to be in TA's Hall of Fame? Think carefully, but you can make as many submissions as you want.

Mr.Mystery
I need to check if I can find the rest of the Unite mixes. I feel 3 and 4 were better as people kept upping their producing talent. 2 might've been the most popular one, though.
Sushipunk
I didn't even notice you made this thread already

Excellent call on this one, it's still one of my all time favourite TA mixes. I still have it on in the car on a regular basis.

I hesitate to contribute to a thread such as this, because, while I wholeheartedly agree with the idea of preserving the Best of the Best, I am concerned with the pragmatic philosophical prospects of such an endeavour, with regards to a multitude harmoniously deciding what is actually deserving.

Despite my reticence to be involved, I would make two small suggestions, which I should state are aimed at no one in particular: no self-promotion and no radio sets.

Actually, a third suggestion, as well: 'Stardust' by jupiterone. Best mix on TA ever, imo.

This is not what this thread is for. What kind of idiot do you have to be to promote your own sets to the Hall of Fame?

I can agree with that, to a point. Getting a general consensus of votes from people is difficult, because voting for a set that others like can be very subjective. Not to mention most sets that people find worthy are accompanied with memories of the time they first listened to it, or the replay value that it got.

There is something to say about the general popularity of certain sets, though. Long threads with lots of positive reviews, perhaps spanning multiple years, with enough consensus to be a "legendary" type of set would hardly need a vote.

This is just an attempt to archive the "best of TA", in a way. The idea would be to have a categorized list of great mixes that TA's have largely enjoyed over the years. Something like Stardust would definitely go on that list.

Edit: if you have ever seen my set archive, it's built in HTML and with a few more CSS tweaks, I could design a really nice looking page to showcase all of the mixes that were submitted.

Great call. Dream of the Earth, his classics set, Eat Your Heart Out and the MTA mixes were all memorable.

Another classic from '09 was Faloney - Dublanta Vol 2.

By far the mix I've listened to the most from TA is Dave King - Echo Halloween Boat Party from 2013. I've played that well over 30 times. Nothing fancy or conceptual about it, just absolutely sublime flow and tunes. One of those sets that never stops being pleasurable to re-play.

LOL :haha:

Good idea; I'd love to hear some older sets that I wasn't around to download when they were first posted.

I have a limited listening experience of TA sets, so forgive me, but I thought Jack's recent set at Repose was excellent.

Listened to it for a second time by the pool one morning a few weeks ago during a come-down and it was plurfect.

Def a keeper for when you need a mellow vibe, I'd say.

This one was super, super influential for me at the time. Still love almost ever tune in there.
