That intro is a big part of why my hairs stood up though. It does start to feel repetitive, but just as I was wondering where it was going, things switched up. Tension and release. Basics of DJing right there.

I'm only sad that even Sasha himself doesn't play the bridge from the original. That twisted synth drop halfway through is an all time Greatest Bit.

Well this makes me feel slightly less indifferent toward Xpander.

By the way apparently the signed Blu Ray copies of this performance sold out within like an hour of announcement. A friend of mine just got his in the mail today, and the signature was...less than spectacular...

I dare to say xpander is definitely one of the most overrated tracks that come to my mind, crucify me if you must, never felt it. I liked this rework though, but it feels like they're missing a vocalist to tie in the live aspect because its awkward as . Probably would favor this in cowpander format with more vocals.

I think anything with a reputation like that is bound to become overrated over time. It's just a matter of momentum. But yeah I never really had warm feelings toward it either. Maybe I'm just missing an experiential component. As far as I recall I just heard it as I was going through Sasha's most publicized work before moving on to the next.

This one guy I was talking to a while ago has it pinned as his favourite track ever, reason: it sounded so good @ twilo. Im assuming the room shape of that place would boost the spaciness and reverby delays enhancing it quite a bit, but cant confirm.

Anyone who says Xpander is overrated hasn't heard it on a good system. I used to think it was a bit sluggish and lacking in energy, but then I heard Red Jerry play it in full on a Funktion One. The bassline is so heavy and throbbing, it really is the missing ingredient. No surprise that the guy who heard it on a Phazon loves it.

yup!

When that bassline dropped back in the day live, oh boy. Crowd just went ape.

Yeah, I always liked it but didn't love it until hearing it out. Was that Patrice Bäumel who dropped it? Absolutely ridiculous in a club environment.

Can you even drop Xpander with much credibility these days? Seems like too obvious a crowd pleaser to play in all but the most special occasions (like a symphonic special).
