I got a presentation to do at colledge on this, thought it could be intresting with a bit of help.
I personally think :
1999 belonged to paul oakenfold. His essential mix tour helped him gain attention and popularity.
2000 Judge Jules was very very popular, he has his friday night shows on radio one and also his saturday evening shows which contributed to his increasing popularity.
This could be debated on the fact that Tiesto was coming through with his remix of delerium and his massive trance energy set !
2001 This is hard, Tiesto wasnt even getting in the top to spots on the flyers for Gatecrasher so i cant really pick him. Armin was no were to be seen, oakenfold turned his back on his fans and ed of to USA....Judge Jules lost his friday night show on radio one and took a turn for the worst playing house music on his saturday show, It was the year of releases and no leading DJ in my opinion,
Saying that, what about paul van dyk, he was pretty big.
2002 I personally think Tiesto, many disagree.
2003 I am pretty sure this will belong to Armin. His radio show is killing people, and his fans seem to grow by the day.
----
If you can add info about what DJs have done over those years, i would be thankfull :) |

| I think 2002 has been a great year for AVB, with his remixes of sky falls down and janeiro, along with yet another day. I think he has made a lot of progress this year, along with the ever increasing popularity of his id&t radio show, as you mentioned. I think James holden has made significant strides this year, look forward to what he has planned next year. |

| AVB is definitely on the rise, he is only one of a few who still plays uplifting trance, Tiesto now plays hard to tek-trance while many other trance djs have moved into prog which suk;) |

1999: Paul Oakenfold - without any doubt. His essential mix world tour was amazing. Some of the livesets is still in my playlist. Great stuff!
2000: I would say Tiësto, on this. Magik 6, great livesets and Tïesto playing the stuff he's good at, TRANCE!
2001: Hmm, this is abit harder. Scott Bond was good. Paul van Dyk did some amazing sets too, although he played many sets who were very similar to his P.O.D cd. Nah, I can't decide, I've leave that open.
2002: Paul van Dyk - no contest what-so-ever. All his broadcasted sets have been amazing this year. And those who have seen him live loves him. |

his Sky Falls Down remix is absolutely amazing in a club, great energy builder for a set :)
1999 = Paul Oakenfold
2000 = Ferry Corsten
2001 = PvD (hate to say it :p)
2002 = Armin
thats my opinion anyway, I've not heard Armin play anything other than a storming set for the 5 or 6 times I've seen him this year
next year is gonna be about Matt Hardwick ;) |

Armin may be in your opinion, and mine but look at how many fans he has gained this year, seriously, he has. Next year is going to be all "Armin this, Armin that" trust me.
I forgot about Ferry, he was actually pretty big in 2000. |

| Why Armin in 2003 and not in 2002? I think it would be AvB or PvD for 2002. |

I am going by how many newbies come and said "Worr this Tiesto guy in swings"
I think he got more fans than Armin and Van Dyk in this year.
Maybee im wrong but they are lots of Tiesto fans out there, plus i suppose they think he has had a great year with his DD, Amnesia Tour, American tour (Rubbing up fans) Making loades of commercial releases to increase his popularity, this all paid off as most people love the guy. |
