People who disable themselves on purpose

This woman deliberately made herself (partially) deaf:

Apparently she just hates all sound.
Other people blind themselves or want a doctor to chop off one of their limbs.

| i removed all my teeth, cut off my ears and mutilated myself. i do have shark teeth now though, i also have snake slit ears. I'm not sure what gender i want to be yet |

Well... The closest I've seen was someone who, as a teenager, wore braces despite her dentist deeming it unnecessary and once had her leg cast (is this how you say it in English?) simply because she wanted to know how it felt. None of it was irreversible, of course, so I'm not even sure it's a fair comparison :p

| "To have a limb cast" sounds more like having a cast (sculpture) made of a limb, not putting a limb in a cast or having a cast put on a limb, which is how it would normally be said. |
