You will get no argument from me that the average American is VERY unknowledgeable about the world...likely a lot more than the average citizen of any other country.
Some of this stuff just reminds of that Jaywalking segment on the Tonight Show where Jay Leno goes around asking people on the street stuff and apparently they know nothing.
It's funny at first (and still kinda is) but it's honestly sad when you think about it. |

It's funny but at the same time, not.
Considering the States role in the world, one would think that their people wouldn't be so ignorant to the world outside their own.
I've been to the States many times, and I've concluded that the ones near the Canadian/US border seem to be the more intelligent (global conscience-wise) of the lot.
It appears to dilute the further south you go...
Back in my college days when we went down for a Rugby tournament we'd go out, hit a local pub and spin stories of:
a) nights so cold that the gas freezes in our car and we to break out the dog sleigh team
b) during the summer months our igloos melt and we have to make do with wandering around looking for shelter and hunting bears and stuff.
c) we seem to be winning the war against the Indians thanks to the Royal Canadian Mounted Yaksmen and Sam Steele.
d) and a PLUS however, the American women just had to hear that you were Canadian and they practically fell all over you...:toocool: :tongue2 |
