Hello slackers, for the first time in two weeks it's Friday again.
Hopefully you're all still free of corona.
These are evidently strange times, as even Jay has resorted to posting seriously about music in the MD.
Get your bums over there, too, and recommend us some good music please! |

I had a new washing machine delivered yesterday, because the old one apparently needed a part that would cost in excess of $600 dollars. These two guys get in, haul the washing machine up the driveway and front steps, and arrive at the basement door. I was only partially supervising because I had to work.
These guys wiggle it and wobble it and announce to me that they can't get it down the stairs because it wouldn't fit through the doorway. I go up there and see they are trying to get it down sideways. I ask if they tried the front way, they said they did and it wouldn't fit that way either. They had even taken the doors off the hinges. So I curse and bitch for a minute and then have them take it away so I can maybe order a smaller one later.
I get a text from one of them about 15 minutes later saying they were coming back to try again. Go figure, they turn it front ways and it fits like a ing glove, easily slides through the door frame and down the stairs. I roll my eyes (internally) and thank them for coming back.
I did pay for the haul away of my old machine, which was about twice as heavy as the one they brought in. So they try lugging that thing up the stairs on a dolly, one step at a time. On the last step, they don't clear the step and the skinny guy on the bottom almost loses control. His strength is giving. I lunge myself up the stairs like a goddamned super hero and help him support the machine for long enough to get it balanced again to lift it up the final step. The guy at the top was breathing like his heart rate was maxed out and the skinny guy was soaked in sweat. Told them it was heavy. Tossed them a cold Gatorade for their troubles. Glad the skinny guy didn't get pancaked by a 1000lb washing machine. |

We all had an email from the Managing Director this afternoon announcing redundancies for the company. I had a half-hour of nerves before a follow-up email confirmed I'm not on the provisional shortlist.
It's my birthday weekend. The weather is beyond atrocious. May was the driest on record. June appears to be going for the opposite. |

| Thanks. Normally I'd be in a hot country or on a dancefloor. Sometimes both. This time it looks like order-in tapas and a bottle of wine. |

30+ degrees C at the beginning of the week, 11C today. Wamp wamp. Still sunny and beautiful, but I do love hot sticky summer heat.
Have another little physically distanced visit with friends planned for tomorrow. Tuning into a live stream alternative to the usual TO summer Sunday beach party, with Tim Sweeney, Hiroko Yamamura, Move D, and one of my favourite locals, Ciel. Very much looking forward to that!
Back to work Monday after a week off, sigh. |

Happy Birthday Jack.
Finally we got some rain again and locally it really was a lot in a short period of time.
Today we're 17 years married and we both almost forgot :)
We started visiting friends again as things look very good at the moment, but people still predict a second Covid-19 wave. Looking how stupid some (or actually many) people act I'm not surprised when it actually is gonna happen. Fingers crossed... |
