I wonder what will actually happen if Biden-Harris manages to win. I feel like the would-be star of the show is just too senile to put on a beliavable charade when meeting other world leaders, unless he can use a teleprompter. |
Is he actually senile though, or is that just an attack line from a guy known for spouting semi-coherent word salad himself? When I watched a few clips of Biden and he was tripping over his words a bit I thought there might be something in it, but I've since learned that he's had a stutter since he was a kid, so I think he's just not a very comfortable orator.

In 2016, FiveThirtyEight gave Trump a 1 in 3 chance of victory. Not good, but not bad either, and he did it. Now, they give him a 1 in 8 victory, not good at all. |
Yes, the polls look considerably worse this time around. It was only really RANN with his statistical illiteracy who thought it was sewn up for Clinton last time.
The prospect of a bunch of right wing militia-men with little discernment for the truth taking to the streets with guns if Trump loses is pretty terrifying though. What a ing country. |

Compare his speech patterns from the 70s through to present day. He overcame the stutter quite some time ago, or so it seems. Not to say he’s senile, but it’s evident he’s lost a step, whatever that means.

While I agree, this says nothing of the fact that there have been numerous cities subjected to less organised riots from those on the left in the run up to the election. Not to sanction the militias actions at playing rentacop, but the left has done its share of goading and coaxing. Generally, I’d say the right wing militias have been relatively calm when compared with left wing protestors burning places down. This is obviously excepting an apparent kidnap plot of a governor and the dude that AR-ed some ppl in Wisconsin. Rofl, yeah, this country is a hoot. |

I think most people have lost a step by age 77, but honestly I think the "Sleepy Joe" attack line has backfired. Trump has spent all year making Biden sound like a confused old fool, so when he's turned up to debates and seemed reasonably normal it suddenly looks quite impressive. I doubt your average floating voter thinks he's any less cogent than Trump.
And yeah, the riots were moronic and are probably the only factor that could really hurt "the left" getting back into power, but that kind of civil unrest is fairly universal. We had riots here during the last recession after some police brutality against black kids. The idea of people with automatic weapons actively prepared to kill people seems far more horrifying than people smashing up businesses. In the past I'd have said these niche Internet groups are a tiny minority over-represented by the Internet, but the world's gone so ing crazy I don't know to think anymore. |

| Yeah, I think here the riots are exacerbated by the internet bubbles each of us has placed ourselves within, echo chamber rot. P sure the very fact that Trump got elected was a far greater harbinger of the times than anything occurring right now. What's happening right now kinda feels like the logical conclusion of a direction we've been headed toward for generations. |

I'm referring more to these alt-right groups who Trump is supposedly stirring up. How big are they, actually? How big is this problem likely to be? Is it going to be a couple of isolated incidents of vigilantism or are we going to see a genuine widespread outbreak of violence by heavily armed conspiracy loons?
I'd like to think it's slightly hysterical fearmongering by the same people who thought Trump was going to start a nuclear war or create concentration camps, but then I take a look at the average crowd at one of his rallies and it starts to look quite plausible. |

| Statistically the organised far right militias do not compose large numbers. Trump supporters who have been persuaded into a militant stance, that's a far less known or quantifiable factor. The short answer to how bad it will be -- who really knows? |

| I'm finding it disturbing that a prolonged Tory government in the United Kingdom (that is, the very current government) at present seems more frightening to me than another Conservative government in the United States. |

Why? We don't exactly have the global influence the US has. Trump pulling out of the Paris accord is more damaging than anything our troupe of imbeciles could ever do, for example.
Also, I think we should stop and collectively marvel at the spectacle of a serious Ted Promo discussion, the TA equivalent of some immensely rare cosmic alignment of the galaxy. |

Yeah; what?
The UK is also far less likely to accidently start a war with China or Iran. All we'll do is shoot ourselves in the foot.
