Jack Moss - A Different Energy [Good Modern Trance]
View this Thread in Original format

A follow up to my Accelerate set from the start of the year, this is another two hours of modern (2020-2022) tunes that bring back the classic '90s trance sound we all know and love, along with a couple of the original tunes that inspired them. Really pleased with this one, it goes from deep and spacey all the way through to toffee flavoured bonkers by the end.

01. Adam Pits - Real Taste Of Gravity [space lab]
02. Reflex Blue - Digital Dreams [Reflex Blue Bandcamp]
03. Jamie Leather - Discovery [On Rotation]
04. Dylan Forbes - Mind Expander [Haws]
05. Vitess - Tunnel Vision [STRICTR]
06. Abdul Raeva - Vela [Echocentric]
07. Reflex Blue - Ocean Bliss (Paradise Mix) [Gestalt]
08. Dilby - Heart Of The Jungle [Ohral]
09. SEO John - Dimension Walking (Bliss Inc. Remix) [GODDEZZ]
10. Anderson - Finding A Way Out (Lost Mix) [Anderson Bandcamp]
11. Solar Suite - Guilty Spark [On Rotation]
12. Dusky - Wave [17 Steps]
13. Dylan Forbes - Take U Over [Haws]
14. Aiden Francis - Fusion [Gestalt]
15. Lisene - Rush B [Salt Mines]
16. Ramu - Nothing Else To Do [Familiar Strangers]
17. Ko Yang - Pony (Alex Kassian Remix) [Bliss Point]
18. Bliss Inc. - Get Some [Radiant Love]
19. Andy Ling - Fixation [Hooj Choons]
20. Heliotropic - Walk With Me (Mix No. 1) [Northern Exposure]
21. Rode & Brown x Benjamin Frohlich - Days Of Innocence (Bliss Inc. Remix) [Slam City Jams]
22. Clint - Mental Season [Slowciety]
23. Timothy Clerkin & Kiara Scuro - Lola's Acid [GODDEZZ]
24. SEO John - Phasing [GODDEZZ]
Syntonic
I know most of these, so I’ll bite on this one. I see you follow all the right labels, I personally look forward to GODDEZZ, they recently released RE: DREAM compilation which has good variations but a lot of nice trancey stuff.

Bliss Inc. releases are typically worth buying and that Get Some track is a banger. That track and the New Members tracks were worth the compilation purchase.

Yep, I bought that Radiant Love compilation and immediately deleted everything except those two tracks. I heard Adam Pits play the New Members track out last time I saw him, but I'm yet to hear anyone drop a Bliss Inc tune live.

Hopefully I've done justice to the tunes you already know with the way I've mixed them.

I totally need to give this another run through. I remember liking it but it was a while back - I feel you definitely deserve some good feedback and it's sad this isn't getting the attention it deserves.

It's a funny one. Both of the "modern trance" mixes I've posted this year have done well in terms of plays, likes and so on, but I really haven't had many comments on TA about either. A few people who would normally post have DM'd me instead, I suppose.

Would definitely appreciate some feedback, if you get chance.

Solid mix. Good track selection, nice flow and progression, tight mixing. Can't really complain about anything, just wish there weren't tracks with female vocals, but that's just a personal thing.

I thought the mix was pretty brilliant. However, "modern trance" in this case actually means House/Progressive House/Deep House with a few Trance tracks thrown in. The Deep House track Heart Of The Jungle is absolutely amazing. I would buy it but I don't mix genres when I DJ (personal preference.)

If you like real Trance music (122-140 bpm), I have a YouTube channel featuring current trance music videos.

you're a tit.

the song is not deep house
you like water music
no one listens to your set
beatport is not a good source for determining genre
OP is infinitely more in touch with real trance music.

off

The beat structure determines the genre. You are delusional.

I will freely admit I'm a Brit prog wanker and the trance I select is generally filed under the "progressive" variety, where the overlap to (classic) prog house can be quite extensive. But deep house? Somewhere Kenny Dixon Jr just reflexively gagged.

I very much liked this mix, no surprise, much like it's elder brother. Great tunes, mixing, programming, etc. My only complaint, again like it's sibling, is that I feel like you almost end on too energetic a note, as I am really ready to rave by the end - and, thus, saddened by the actual end.

On a separate note, I was very surprised by how well 'Walk With Me' works on an audio level. Did Northern Exposure remaster it?

Lol @ DJX2D. I guess, per your definition, this isn't trance, then?

Cheers, glad you enjoyed it.

There's no mention of it being remastered on Beatport, and judging by the atrocious quality of some of the vinyl rips Northern Exposure sell, I doubt they worry too much about that kind of thing. I can only assume they either sourced the master from somewhere or it's a particularly clean vinyl rip.
