I can call them cookie cutter if you want. It just matters less in 2026 because there is good underground trance available, whereas 20 years ago tgere was more Fate Of The Scene hand wringing going on as the clones took over.

There are a lot of overpowering supersaw leads that just don't leave any room for other elements. The "chaotic" feeling that Titanium mentioned is kind of accurate. Euphoria really shouldn't be forced on the listener lol. There definitely feels like with many tracks (not all) that there's a focus on the sound of the track rather than the melodies or anything else.
I've kind of taken a break from trance for the past decade so I'm new to what's surely been an ongoing discussion. Not that the topic itself is new - I remember people saying melodic trance was dead 20 years ago!
Hey Steve,
I would love to hear this kind of euphoric trance see how easy on the ears with the percussions but it has a constant rhythm modern day uplifting is not uplifting at all or euphoric it lacks the addictive qualities that older trance had and older trance was so atmospheric and you can really feel the emotions whereas modern uplifting trance sound too robotic and digital. Unfortunately, some producers have egos bigger than their dicks that they don't listen at all the subtly in making the track breathe is also missing giving it life not making it sound like a robot or lifeless
Modern day uplifting this is trying to hard and it sounds like a cheaper version of something push would do
If we take a look at track you made back in 2008 which sounds like it was inspired by Passiva remix of a place called home by JPL both are quite good but that passiva remix is so addictive but I could listen to your remix in the background and appreciate it. I can't do the same for modern day trance. I can do that in goa trance records because they have elements of older melodic trance.
This is more of those amazing powerful trance that's done right.

If we compare to the modern day asot it's so noisy all of the tracks and even the intro pierces my ears and they have no addictive quality in them compare it to the older asot

But perhaps it was a reality call that making cookie cutter trance wasn't going to bring in the money anymore since there are now a zillion another people doing same sounding the same. If money's the reason then I think they brought it on themselves.
Let's put FSOE as a test here
If we compare it to modern day trance see how it sounds there is no breathing space for me to connect it's struggling with a vibrato for me connect to and compare that his older track and old track is so addictive hear the percussion they sound and totally different and the arpeggios too and atmosphere in the 2nd track actually breathe and you can feel it and it's so subtle as well. The first track triggers my anxiety whilst the 2nd track lets me breathe and has amazing vibrato which I can connect. First track sound very plastic and almost dehumanized track the 2nd track sound like a human has made it's warm and rich

This was the last hard trance producer from Melbourne apart from Mike Nichol too but he is not producing quality like he used to

Those are some quality tracks! And thank you, I'm very humbled to be mentioned among these selections. I totally know what you mean about room to breathe and showing more intentionality with the composition. The leads and melodies have real personality and clarity.
And what a throwback - I hadn't listened to "Long Way Home" in probably close to 15 years.

So why don't producers want to make those kinds of tracks I find myself not even bothering to listen to Amber at all.
Also another track on your label this one 5:27 onwards during the climax just lovely '
If we compare modern day goa trance it has elements of old melodic trance and it's so melodic and has a lot of percussions and arpeggios and doesn't sound the same through the track has a lot of interesting and mysterious interesting and addictive sounds.

I have a problem with productions like this as well. Track like the one below is so boring and so tight in term of compression.
I want to hear more tracks like this

I may be the wrong person to ask - I am just getting back into trance after taking a 10+ year break :haha:
All jokes aside, herd mentality by producer, labels and consumers alike is always a factor. The "over produced" sound we're talking about is what trance sounds like now and now people have to fit into the status quo.
Additionally, with all of the label consolidation (Armada has how many labels now?), labels are catering to parent companies a lot more than when I started my label.
And with the marketing power that the conglomerates have, it's harder for smaller artists to get noticed. Consolidation always leads to less creative freedom and these big labels own the airwaves.

Doesn't matter if you've been out of the 'game' for 10+ years your voice still matters. I used to work Airwave(who posts here but hasn't in a while) too and he quit a number of times and came back. I think it's a shame that people have turned their backs on Uplifting/euphoric trance/melodic trance after it has had such a MASSIVE positive influence in the past with so many producers and listeners. I know I spoke to Mike Shiver and Mirco De Gova both were so extremely bitter about it I blame social media for it because they shoved that whole dj lifestyle down people's face and became so toxic.
I am just pissed off at so many people turning their backs on melodic trance after it has such a positive influence on them this includes JOOF as well. Above & Beyond too they turned their backs on the entire style because of depression.Ferry corsten too has turned his back on uplifting trance his tracks during his golden period were amazing so iconic. I don't care what Sasha said about him he had his track on one of his complilations.

This is some criticism towards JOOF and his sub labels. I can see why they are trying differentiate themselves and I think that it's a bad idea.
To me they are extremely boring and I wouldn't call it trance or progressive just a flat line nothing really addictive the kick drums are so ing tight and pierces my ear drums it doesn't have a nice home listening experience.
this is better but still the mastering is terrible but once again it's lacking in a lot of areas which a lot of older trance had.
