as a pvd lover...

anyone else think the pvd's tracks are starting to get a bit repetetive? granted, techno in general is a repetitive beast, but the beat and bassline of almost all pvd's recent tracks are exactly the same. he definitely has a signiature style but i think he could use a hint of variety these days.

any thoughts? how could he make his stuff a little less formulaic?

I reckon that his stuff is getting very similar this days as for example:

guide me god rmx
wavy gravy rmx
nothing but you

they are really nice specially guide me god, but I don`t know why he used the same bassline/closed hat on all 3! har har :D but at least he got a new bassline hehe (softer)

all this apply to Paul's description of himself: "focused but lazy"

cheers

Ever listened to Marco V? All his basslines are the same. And he even dares releasing them :D

If Paul changes this style I will kill him :whip:

I've been realising this for more then a year now, PVD is not what he used to be like in 1997-2000.

What has PvD to with techno?

PvD has been repetitive....nothings really changed

on the plus side, what you get is an energetic set, with straightforward trance, and numerous good songs. if you are looking for something that is groundbreaking and completely different you best look elsewhere|

well, as i see it, trance is a type of techno. if you wanna be all nit-picky about definitions of types of electronic music.. be my guest.

i still love the remixes and originals he makes, im just sayin i'd have a hard time telling them apart.

Trance is NOT a type of techno...it's a type of electronica. Trance and techno are two different styles of music my friend.;)

Yeah this goes to show that a musician's style can vary somewhat over a few years. Isn't necessarily a bad thing - Paul is still making beautiful tunes. :disbelief :thepirate
