OK OK...i got my email nback from Arny today....look what he said.
Dear Brooks,
hope you're well. Unfortunately I normally don't know how these things
happen, but I will forward your info to the persons involved.
I understand it's a high price to pay for a ticket. I wouldn't pay it myself either/but it's a special dj on a special night on the! NYE location.
Arny.
EVEN HE SAID HE WOULD NOT PAY THAT MUCH...WTF...and thats Tiestos BEST FRIEND......well i hope he forwards it to Tiesto so he knows his fans are pissed on EVERY forum/board
this is what i wrote back to Arny after he wrote me
hey Arny...
Paul van Dyk costs $40 in California, Paul oakenfold costs $50 in NYC, Armin van Buuren costs $50 in California on New Years Eve this year...i just don't understand why Tiesto tickets are this much.....it's a shame...
He will DEFINATLEY not be playing to his REAL FANS that night...check these links and send them to Tiesto PLEASE....so he sees...
this one from HIS OWN site and forum
http://www.djtiesto.com/script/tst/...&PagePosition=1
this one from www.tranceaddict.com
http://tester.tranceaddict.com/foru...&threadid=75684
these are the ones who voted for him and followed his carrer....i SURELY hope someone from Blackhole responds to one of those topics...or Tiesto will be losing some major fans over this.....if he cares.
anyway..please forward those links i sent to Tijs so he sees first hand how his fans are reacting..even the fans from his personal web site..
thanks Arny

one counterpoint (keeping in mind i still wouldn't pay $200):
my favorite band is in NYC on NYE and i can't go because it is an impossible ticket to get. the tickets were fairly reasonable if you could get them but i tried in several ways to get tix and had no luck. so at least in this case you can go if you want to. i don't even have that option. :( |

No, of course you guys don't deserve it. But New York is expensive. Besides, nobody is getting ripped off. If you don't want to go, don't go, as simple as that.
LOL. I sound like I'm defending this $200 price tag here. I wouldn't pay 200$ either, but you have to understand that this is business after all. If there are people who are willing to pay $200 to see Tiesto on NYE, than there is nothing we can do. |

| Fook me..that's quite expensive!! I hope I can get on the guestlist or something, otherwise I think I am going to see Oakenfold..is that one really only 60 dollars? |

Your coming here ::conf:
I was lead to believe that Holland was the Capital of Trance.
I’m sorry I never thought I would see the day
...... people flying from the other side of the earth, to come to EXIT
:haha: :haha: :tongue3 :stongue: |

| It's not that good anymore overhere (the scene is ed up and not fresh at all)..as you can see all the good dj's are spinning abroad, and I'm not just comming over to visit Exit or World, but I'm there for 5 days on holiday!..people need a break sometimes! |

What?! Now it's 200 bucks?! Hell, last night it was 100 bucks, and I was complaining about that! Pffffff, shame on me. And to think I even entertained the idea of even paying 100 bucks (which I suppose now includes, paying for overpriced drinks, no buffet, no view of the stupid ball, and apparently "unsecure entrance") :wtf:
I can play my own set, make my own drinks and watch my own balls descend, for free! :o |
ROFLMAO :happy2: This is too funny...
I remember Oakie was in the same spot at one point - "Number one DJ, the highest paid DJ in Guiness book of records, etc... blah blah blah" Next, Oakie's interviews in magazines started to describe his lifestyle - his cosmetologist, nutritionist, personal trainer, etc etc etc.. and Oakie just started to vanish off the list... Brits disowned to the point where Oakie had to move to US, where eager masses were ready to accept him in his "yuippified" form.
People, don't you get it??? The Trance is new "Chic" - it's the fancy word on the tongues of wall-street types and "World" is just cashing in on that... Good 'ol capitalism.
I didn't see spending $40 for Tiesto at Roxy as reasonable and spending $200??? or more??????????? Naaaaaaah... Hell, I paid $45 for Pink Floyd tix in my time - but they played LIVE, not spin the record... So what if your "JUKEBOX" says #1 on it, and occasionally lamely signs few autographs??? It ain't worth paying that kind of money...
Besides, blame Tiesto for wanting to make $50G's a nite??? Lemme ask you a question, if you were faced with a dillema of making $50g's in one nite under a risk of upsetting few fans who can't afford to see you, let alone probably have not paid for any of your CD's or saying "NO" to DA MAN and doin' it for half of that - just to keep those same peeps happy????
I dunno, but I think I'd be countin' my cash and laughing all the way to the bank...
that's my H.0.
  |

| just a thot, but u guys think it'd work if a letter/petition/wuteva was sent also to WWE and/or the direct managers of World? cuz it seems World are the responsible ones for the jacked up door price. |

That was your time and this is ours. I respect what they did for the scene but, you should also show som respect for what djs do.
-Mixing (Fooking hard)
-Track selection(there taking us on a journey, bringing us to a point and then destroying they dance floor:crazy: :eyespop: :eyespop: )
Also, you have to realize that everything cost more now then it did then. |
