What I WOULD be worried about is if this starts happening a lot...you know....promoters thinking they can cash in on Tiesto's #1 Dj status. Well, in that case...Tiesto would be obligated to do something about it. |
hey u neva know.....it could...maybe not 200 dollars but if other clubs in NYC see they can get a higher price they might just try.:( |

This is taken from the board of tiesto.com:

As you probably all know by now Tiësto will be performing in New York on NYE. He is really looking forward to this performance, since it is one of his dreams to perform on Times Square on NYE.
The last week many statements were made concerning this performances on several websites. We want to clear out some facts to avoid any misunderstandings.
We (both Tiësto and Management) are not involved in setting the admittance fee for his gigs. The promoter sets the price and is there for responsible for the door fee, it are their people and is their party, their market and reputation, it is hard for us to judge on that. We do however discuss this with the promoter and try to avoid high prices to enable the people to visit Tiësto’s sets at a reasonable price. Tiësto however has a definite say in the places where he wants to play, the deals though are made by the management. He is neither involved with his own price nor the door pricing or any contract stuff. He’s there for the warmth of the music and the crowd, the rest is of no importance to him. It goes without saying that the record company has got nothing to do with any of this either, they release the records and CD’s and are not involved in contracts for any of Tiësto’s bookings.
Taking all of this into consideration it is not really up to us to go into this discussion. However since there was lot’s of wrong and bad vibed information we do post this message. After hearing about the rumours on the general admittance fee (ranging from USD 200 till USD 500 in some messages) we got in touch with the promoter looking for the real facts, since we agreed that these prices were really high. We found out that the general admittance fee will be USD 125 (including free champagne all night). We can imagine that this still is a considerable amount, but since this is a special gig, on a special night, at a special location, with a special DJ it is definitely worth while. Tiësto has performed in NY a lot this year and will also be back in NY in 2003. So if you’re not able to go on NYE, you will be able to catch him next year.
We have asked the promoter to communicate this information through all means as much as possible, so the real information will be out there.
We hope this will take away all the rumours and bad vibes. Tiësto hopes to meet all of his die hard fans and all others in “The World” on NYE. If not he hopes to meet you in the near future somewhere in the world… …
Regards,
Tiësto Management

$125 is alot more reasonible. I checked ticketmaster and they have 3 packages available.
Platnium ($450)
Gold ($350)
Silver ($200)
Mabye there's something stupid you can't buy off ticketmaster called the Copper package for $125. Or mabye the $200 silver package is the $125 admission fee with a $75 ticketmaster surcharge. |

yes, secure entrance, just like what happened to the world 2 years ago on NYE. their secure entrance got shut down by police and half the people stayed outside to see the ball drop. whatever they tell you they will be serving dont believe it. every club pulls the same on nye where they tell you free this and free that, in reality you get nothing. the best party on NYE is doing something privately with your closest friends at someone's house. save your money, grab a bottle of grey goose, call 25 people to come, get some food, and pop in a tiesto cd and dont waste your hard earned money on these gimmicks called NYE parties where you get 1% of what you actually payed for. Thats my theory and thats exactly what im doing on NYE. clubs I dont need to spend it with 2,500 people I could care less about.

Hi Brooks,
Sorry that it took a few days for us to find out the facts on the NYE gig.We were kind of surprised by all the news on the door fee. As you can read on the message board of tiesto.com, this is not our thing but since we thought the fee mentioned in the messages was rather high, we got in touch with the promoters and found out the real ticket prices. We requested them to communicate this through all means.
Enclosed with this mail you find their press release.
We hope to have clearified all these missunderstandings and we hope to see you on NYE, it is going to be a great party!! If not we hope to meet you in the near future at another party.
Kind regards,
Wilfried Dam
