why is everyone acting like progressive is NOT trance?...IT IS TRANCE...just a sub-genre of trance...same way epic aka uplifting, tech, or hard are all forms of TRANCE..
So someone please tell e when PROGRESSIVE became it's OWN genre???
because as far as i know it never did...unless HARD,EPIC,TECH,GOA etc etc ALL have now become their OWN genres.

How can you say progressive is a sub genre of trance? It sounds totally different to trance. I think progressive is lumped together with trance because people are afraid of stepping out into a new genre. Just because tiesto has start spinning more progressive stuff, doesnt turn progressive into trance. |

i never once mentioned anything about Tiesto making prog a subgenre of trance...not once...not sure where u pulled that from.
but then if Prog is not a subgenre of trance then neither can Goa/Psy, Acid, Hard, Tech or any of the other subgenres....
For the past 7 years that i have been listening to trance, progressive was always a form of TRANCE...... |

that was not my reason. If I would have banned him for that, then MANY TAs would`ve been gone also don`t you think? plz think a little bit more before you post. Generalizing is not good.
and btw, if you don`t know what your friend did on the AU forum, check it out, which I know you did since you both are friends ;p

there's progressive trance and progressive house, both are entirely different genres and have entirely different roots and beginnings.
Prog Trance takes its roots from Trance & Psy Trance, the majority of today's trance is progressive since its using different sounds etc to that of the mid-nineties. Progressive house takes its roots from epic and acid house. Producers such as James Holden & Sasha produce progressive house.

personally i find some people to be overly critical of music... why hate the artist for trying to produce intriguing music... Besides, Paul van Dyk has some really good stuff out there... I just dont understand why someone would post a thread simply aiming to degrade someone and their work--- oh wellz... |

Now lets rethink all this.....we all knew this topic (prog vs. trance) were to explode before years end....but lets discuss this peacefully....
i mean i seen alot of TAs get converted to "prog elitist"
hell i myself am sooo deep into prog right now...but Not letting go of the real trance(quality)....in fact i was in a state of prog..early this fall..but now in winters time im into the trance mood.
BASICALLY its this: If ur dissin trance and u hail progressive..THEN U LACK AN OPENMIND!...u tell people who listen to trance..oh yeah u lack openmindness..ur missin prog..I get all giggly listenin to sasha.etc
I LISTEN TO SASHa...holden...pappa....the whole krew(except digweed)..
and yet i still have the mind to pump up tunes like
