for those that dont know, theres a program out there just like adobe photoshop, except its totally free...its called "The GIMP"...get it at www.gimp.org...
its one of those open-source movement things, but trust me, just cos its free doesn't mean its like bad stuff...look for urself..
i for one just got it and am struggling to get good at using such programs...

And unless you are using LINUX as your operating system, the gimp is totally useless. :)
There is a win32 port being worked on, but apparently it's buggy. here's the URL
http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32//index.html
I'll stick with the "industry-standard" photoshop... no doubt. |

u may be totally rite on this...but for total n00bs to programs like this...such as myself..its not such a bad deal...besides...its free!!!

| hehe. yeah but pshop 6 is such a popular warez item that you can get it free anyway. lol. :) not that i'm promoting you to use warez or anything...*whistles* |
|

yeah...once i downloaded it from a warez ftp...but felt guilty about "stealing" software..so i got rid of it..and i guess what..sum1 else just said the same thing about gimp..thats it too buggy on windows...i just hope i can use it for making cool logos on websites, thats all i really need such programs for

| oh yeah, for logo making you don't need severely complex proggys. hell, you can make some kewl ones in ms paint! hehe. illustrator/flash or any other vector based program is what you really want for logos. that way your logo's digital file sizes will remain really miniscule and @ the same time you can scale the logo larger or smaller without fear of losing picture/print quality (because it's vector) just something to keep in mind because there's a difference when pictures, especially logos are resized often (i.e. for letterheads, web, business card), you'll want to be able to transfer then easily, efficiently, and without hassle if you need to change it in anyway. |
