places to visit in japan?

ill be in tokyo from dec 24 --> jan 7... staying with a friend the whole time for free (yay!) .. he has to work some days though, and i dont want to annoy him by always being around so i need fun things to do in tokyo during the days. have any of you visited there and have suggestions on where to go/what to do? it can be touristy or unusual, i dont care. i plan on seeing AVB on jan 4 (w00t!), and im going to go have lunch with miki one of the days.. but i need stuff to do the other days! all i have planned so far is the ghibli museum
so yea, suggestions are welcome! |

I spent a few hours walking around tokyo by my self a year ago. It was awsome. Everything was an adventure.
Some funny intresting things to do I say are :
Go to the fish market down town by Ginza. Its a ing trip man, blew my mind. I was wow look at all these people and weird ass fish. All the rest of the people were just doing their thang. It was cool, like nothing I have ever seen.
Go to the Sony building they got way new gadgets in there that wont see around here for a long time. I bought a wicked CD player there and its still not sold here. You got to pick something up like that cause its your only chance.
Try to talk to shop owners. Its so funny. Just pointing at and they are all talking slow and thinking that you might understand them. You know like we all do to them.
If you are really adventures. Get lost on the trains. man they are crazy. So many and so many people.
This is just funny things that I find amusing. Everything there is so cool to just see cause its so different. You can walk around and be entertained.
Hope you have fun and if you want some more ideas just watch the jackass movie. They know whats up. |

A friend of mine lives in japan, she loves it.
she's in osaka right now teaching english, she recommended KOBE beef =above all else, it's supposed to be so good.
she also went and checked out a bunch of temples and stuff, i can get more info if you want. |

hello im living in osaka japan
i suggest you go to:
roppongi (shopping district and pub district
shinjuku (night clubs and pubs)
shibuya (its got all the record shops just ask the black guys hanging around for manhatten records or cisco - manhatten records are hip hop mainly but its the best known one and theres trance shops right next to it)
ginza (upperclass shopping expensive but its meant to be crazy to just go look at)
yokohama (cojoined city)
and you could even do a day trip to go see mt fuji!
make sure you go to and onsen (naked bath house)
and you can go to tokyo disneyland as well!
plus more then likely yoji biomehanika will be playing somewhere in tokyo cause hes playing in osaka late december.... and if you wanna go night clubbing remember the name cyber trance velfarre it seems to be a pretty big japanese stlye party!!!

| Hint: learn to read in Japanese (katakana, at least). This way, you may recognise some words in English that might be written with those cool symbols... it'll be helpful to read and understand what words like "wota" and "miruko" mean ;) |

as it turns out, yoji is spinning on december 26... but it was a choice between that, or armin on jan 4.. so im goin with armin ^_^ .. velfarre might be cool to check out, one problem is tho that im staying with my friend the whole time for free, but he isnt really into techno. perhaps i can convince him tho!
and im taking my second year of japanese, so ill be able to manage signs and ^_^ |

To answer ur question, Maaz....it's called "Tokyo Tower" hehe
and for Sothis,
check out "Shimokitazawa" area and "Daikanyama" area!
and you might want to go to Odaiba. There're lota shops and a huge playland! yes playland!
and of course, Harajyuku, Shibuya, and Shinjyku!
and if you have any chance to go to other city, then visit Kyoto! where I live right now!:) :)

Hey mongeone...
I need a little info on Japan.
for example.. Costs
Is it expensive to live there?
Or jobs... umm, I'm in Network Engineering. Would I be able to score some jobs there or is the competition intense?
I'm thinking of travelling there on a working visa and maybe staying for about a year.
I'd appreciate any sort of info that you think will help.
