I go to Yale and I sure think it's pretty impressive, considering that he's had a full-fledge dj career throughout all these years and still managed to keep up with his studies. I could definitely not be producing and touring the world while studying law at the same time, even if that school wasn't great. And btw, I think the European system works in a different way, doesn't it? I've heard that you just go straight into law school after high school or something? Don't take my word for it. :nervous:

And yeah, congrats to Armin!!!!:disbelief :disbelief

If you research on some University exchange programs, there have been occurences where undergrads from those fancy school can't even score an A in their neighbouring country. What does this tell you? You were bred and raised by aristocratical dictators who made the system that way, all the ivy-league blahs blahs....Times have changed, there are other emerging schools which will breed new talents. In this society, personal achievement stands out more than what you've studied over the years. It's how you make use of what you learned that propels you to a higher level. Bah....too much crap and stuff.....i could go on forever, but the propaganda surrounding these schools are the best are just too passe in today's context. Professions that yielded you most money say 20 years back have diminished significantly. It's like the gold rush for the Americans, if this job provides better prospects, why should I choose otherwise. There you go, within the last few years, which rich people do we see on Forbes? CEOs or doctors or lawyers....I am not saying they do not make that much....sure they'll be able to secure a nuclear family. Fame and fortune goes well hand in and hand, it's how you attain them that is the difficult part.

Can you say post-rejection angst? Hey, I know from first-hand experience that a lot of people in the Ivy League are not the smartest people in the world, but don't attack my school just because it's rated #1 or #2, it earned that spot by being on top of America’s intellectual and academic elite for the last 300 years. Yes, it’s even older than the Union. MOST people have sweated blood and tears to get into such schools; it’s not that easy to get almost perfect SATs and GPAs.
Over-rated you say? I’m not that proud about having the most people from the Forbes 500 or even the last three U.S. presidents, but I’m damn proud about all of the achievements in the arts and sciences that were made by Yale academics. This is not about money my dear. Aristocratical dictators? First of all, there’s no such word as “aristocratical”, it’s supposed to be aristocratic. Sure, there’s an obvious old money legacy. I mean, these schools are older than . But times have changed; do you have any idea how liberal these schools are in the present day?
The Ivy League universities were the first schools in the U.S. to admit minorities and nowadays the school admits 40% minorities and male and females on an equal 50-50 basis. Trust me, most elite schools in the world can’t say that yet about their diversity.

I don’t understand where your anger comes from, but it just bothers me that you attack my school as if we were all ups because we were lucky enough to get accepted. It’s not my fault that other people were less fortunate. Oh, and I’m going abroad to Amsterdam next semester. I’ll let you know if I get anything less than an A in my grad school classes. If I get less than an A, Yale won’t give me credit for them. It’s not as easy as you think, Einstein. Peace.

Didn't think that Armin could be awesome to me, but he has proved me wrong with this one :D this makes me want to get a law degree even more now! Congrats AVB!

To Dj Pio and Fire999

I think both of you guys make some good points, how ever I think you (Dj Pio) miss the point that Fire999 was trying to make, which was that he was replying to someone who had made a post previously saying that Armin got a law degree in Holland but that worth almost nothing comparing to Harvard, Yale or Oxford, he was just trying to say that just because Armin didn't graduate from these so call Elite schools doesn't mean that his Law degree is worth nothing or worth less than a degree from these Elite schools, and he said in some cases people from other schools did better than people from Harvard, Yale or Oxford, the fact that these schools have a good reputation does mean that they are the best and that no other schools can ever challenge them, I think it would be silly to think that something can be the best forever and anything else is unworthy.
Dj Pio I agree with you that a lot of these elite schools are very liberal and that 3 Pesidents have graduate from them, no one can argue with you on how great and how prestigious Harvard, Yale and Oxford are but I don't think Fire999 was dissing these schools at all.;)

Cheers and good luck to both of you.;)

Bigups to Armin :D
TranceGiant
@ DJ Pio, yep you're right. In Europe you can start directly after High school, specializing yourself on law, law and..law. No college system whatsoever. Quite depressing as I realize now

hows the foreign students rate at Yale? :D

Why do I miss the point? I said in the post before that it was really impressive that Armin got a law degree, regardless of the school in which he did it.

Also, of course he dissed the schools. He called them "aristocratical" and practically hated on all the students that attend these institutions. Heh, no big deal

TranceGiant: Foreign students at my school are great because they bring a great deal of value to the environment by sharing their own cultural perspectives and experiences. And they're ususally very smart too. Peace.:D

oh! lol. i guess it's a hard as for everyone else. you would have to be in the top of your class and have great SATs or whatever the equivalent is. plus a bunch of impressive extracurricular activities...
