subsynths, adds lower freq. to the synth, my explanation isnt much, search for it, maybe someone else could explain u...

oh and trancemaster, ur synth is quite simple, i would add an envelope or something that will make the synth sound more humanized, its really cold like u did it if u know what i mean...

Hmm, sometimes phat sounds are hard to fit in a mix, cuz they take up lotsa space with their phatness. hehe

anyways, here is something I whipped while I was stressin over exams:

Its the fm7 in jeskola buzz with some buzz effects on top. (delay, phatman, reverb, eq)

Here's another sample.. song I'm working on right now.
Everything, except hihat samples, is made with fm7, absynth, and buzz machines. (including those chirping birds) hehe

here are my two cents... i got the basic flp on samplecity (thanx khemikal) and then layer some 3xOsc and Pro 52 together, added drums just to see how they fit...

if that was aimed to me (wich I guess it was) I would just like to clear out that it was a pure coincidence that my synth sounded like theirs....I just thought it was cool that I created a very alike sound by coincidence :p

I don't understand this fascination with getting a "phat" pad sound... it will most likely either end up sounding like your typical trance song (if you use it correctly), or it will shove out everything else (if you use it incorrectly). That's assuming it really is phat.

Also, a "cold" sound, if used correctly, can have just as much effect as a "warm" sound. Probably more, now that all these warm pads are being used in every single trance song. There is nothing wrong with a cold sounding pad. In fact, there aren't many sounds that are bad, it's just how you use them...

:)
