Hmm, sometimes phat sounds are hard to fit in a mix, cuz they take up lotsa space with their phatness. hehe

anyways, here is something I whipped while I was stressin over exams:

Its the fm7 in jeskola buzz with some buzz effects on top. (delay, phatman, reverb, eq)
nice hehe

I don't understand this fascination with getting a "phat" pad sound... it will most likely either end up sounding like your typical trance song (if you use it correctly), or it will shove out everything else (if you use it incorrectly). That's assuming it really is phat.

Also, a "cold" sound, if used correctly, can have just as much effect as a "warm" sound. Probably more, now that all these warm pads are being used in every single trance song. There is nothing wrong with a cold sounding pad. In fact, there aren't many sounds that are bad, it's just how you use them...

:)

a bad sound for a mix is kind of a bad sound, also a sound that will add nothing to a track is also a bad sound, and also a sound that will ruine the mix, and a groove sound that will destroy the flow of the beats is bad... all imo...

Off course really bad sounds will never sound real good, but mostly a less phat sound fits better into the mix than a really phat sound. Second, what's the point with using that really phat sounds? The can be found in any commercial trance song and they begin to sound really boring because everyone use them. Do you want to be original and create your own sound, or do you want to copy what everyone else uses?

i guess when u say phat synth u mean the typical trance lead, well thats not what i meant... any synth that covers all the spectrum and sounds like many instruments r playing 2gather is phat for me, u can achive an infinate amount of phat synths, but its all sums up on the use u do with it... :)
