i know what you're saying..
kimball collins generation 2000 cd is what got me into the whole genre.
system f out of the blue is a classic also..
but the trance these days aren't bad either.. its all evolving into different forms, i mean there's so many different forms of trance now that you can't even really categorize one song into one type of genre....
oldies are goodies but the new trance is good too =)

| To JayD: I thought that how the DJs change their repertoire is a sign of how trance in general changes over time, wouldn't you agree? Hence the post. |

WELL WELL WELL.. the old trance I love so much.. and I hate that that music is not getting much attention.. why ?!?! well, for the reason been that I was never able to experience the sound on a club or in an event.. wich would've been an awesome expereince.
Take for an example .. the sound of Matt Darey on IBIZA EUPHORIA .. who wouldnt love to hear that on a club or event.. wich I was never able to hear in such place. Still, that sound gets into me alot more then recent tunes, maybe because they are more memorable, or touch you more.. I always imagine a club with clubbers listening to Blockster -- Grooveline ( matt darey mix ) I mean.. what a track... todays trance still kicks ass.. teh progressive trance is neat if its well done.. but it dont have the same feeling as the old trance.. like .. one of my fave tunes .. Cafe del Mar -- energy 52, or Kamaya Painters -- Far from over, those tunes , will give us the nicest memories of my life, from the day that I heard it .. where I played it at the beach in sunset.. :-) |

| well older trance will never go away cause it was what started it all...speaking of 97, 98, (btw future breeze - why dont you dance with me? was one amazing track) though i remember what got me into this music was the first stuff i heard when i was like 10 years old back around 1990 there was some crazy ass coming out then and it sounded so hot cause it was brand new and it was never heard before..so i have memories for that stuff and ill always like it, but the new stuff that comes out now is absolutely incredible..the sounds they use are amazing ( megamind - taub? is one hell of a song for example) so i cant really say if one is better than the other they both have their qualities :) |

| of course.. who doesnt like "classics", but to tell you the truth... if i were to choose to listen to a newer tune that i wasnt that familiar with that was very good, or to listen to a very good "classic tune" that i already have imprinted in my ears... i choose the newer tune, for i like to expand my music knowledge, and there is nothing better than hearing a very good tune for the first time!! You just have to keep searching and searching until you find a tune that tingles your ear... Yes, it is very difficult finding good melodic trance nowadays, but that is the whole fun of it...The epic/melodic trance will never die in my book, for as time goes by, there is more and more knowledge, people, and technology used in making these tunes...and is trance better now than back then.... hell yes!!! |

Yea, I know what you're saying... But what I mean is that I like how it was produced and how the scence was back then... It's not that I dont like the trance now a days, but they dont give me that feeling that I got back in the days.. |

| I think 98 was the best year for trance. But now it's only getting more and more commercial. |

Yeah, nowadays you just download all the new trance tunes from the internet..... maybe that just spoils the fun..
I mean, back in the days :) , you listned like a million times to your new bought cd but now you download about 5 new songs and 2 new livesets a day ! |

| hmm...though trance has finally emerged from the underground and entered the public eye...doesn't mean it's gonna get bad...not with all the good djs and stuff. i mean the names of avb, tiesto, pvd and other godly djs will still turn up a question mark to a lot of people. |
