I'm not sure if this has been discussed on here before, but I just kinda discovered it...
I've been a long time fan of van dyk, and bought out there and back as soon as it came out here in the us. My roomate and I were having a discussion the other day about how the best music is film music, because it conveys emotions and a story better than any other type of musical expression. While Out There and Back has it's few HUGE tracks, I have been listening to it in it's entirety lately and noticed something...It feels like a story. When you step back from the individual tracks and listen to the album, some things jump out. Even the song titles make a type of story line.
-Vega (from Arabic (al-Nasr) al-WAqi`, literally, the falling)
-Pikes
-Another Way
-Traveling
-Avenue
-Tell me why
-Together we will conquer
-Face to face
-Love from above
-Columbia
-Out there and back
-Alive
I just thought it was pretty amazing, and became even more impressed with the album as a whole, and van dyk as an artist. Check it out, let me see what you think...
Peace,

I totally agree with havok, all the songs are really cool, and they have a great beat/melody.....PVD is about making music that plays with the emotions....love the CD....and all the stuff PVD mixes....

hell yes... this easily has to be my album of the year for 2000
i remember the one time i was heading over to my girlfriends after work (like 15 minutes away) and listening to this album... but instead of stopping at my girlfriends... i just kept on driving for another hour... just exploring the area... absolutely awesome
and then my girlfriend heard this tune on my banging home system and she started liking trance :)
haha... pvd foreva! |

PVD kicks ass!!! i waswatching a Interview on him saying that its his 4th album....and 3rd album hasnt even been released yet cuz of the legal issues behind it and his old label..... i dont know how old the Interview was but wonder if it was ever released yet or what....would be quite interesting!
and by the way PVD style of tracks...arnt those pure party energy tracks...there songs that totally mean something to someone in the heart might be totally different for every person.... his tunes are totally euphoric masterpieces...almost cant consider them trance or anything like that......his songs are like a movie ...so much drama and so deep...and there isnt any other producers out there that kinda makes them like that ........ mayb airwave is similar to there sounds taking people to Journeys!! |

| I'd have to agree too. It's an awesome album that covers a lot of styles in Trance like ambient, uplifting & vocal. It never gets boring to listen to. |
