A sad dawn has broken upon us.
It is now official.
The Skip Raiders are no more. hear it straight from the horse's mouth:
| quote: | The news is that the guys have decided to call it a day for the Skipraiders and go their
separate ways. Tim has moved permanently to Australia, and he and Sandy found working together
when there is 12000 miles between them became too much of a problem.
As the saying goes..."when one door closes another opens" so Tim is now DJ-ing and remixing down
under, and Sandy is in the studio in London working on a major new classical/ chilled project,
as well as being asked to score more tv films after adding a fourth BAFTA winning programme to
his credit list this month.
Thank you to all our fans who have supported us in the last 2 years. |
Skip Raiders, otherwise known as Tim Ericson and Sandy Nuttgens, never had it easy. they had the idea of taking the Platoon Theme music, and turning it in2 a dancefloor killer. They searched around, but no labels were interested. Then oakie got his hands on a copy, and the rest was history. but sadly, this was no happy x-mas in '99. William Orbit's barber's adagio was released just b4 Another Day, and stole the thunder. Although all us TA's here know that Another Day whipped the ass outta orbit's one.
A lot of you here may not respect this, but imo, the Skip Raiders never received the popularity that they greatly deserved. Whether it was the uplifting power in Anthem and Mi Amore.....or the haunting vocals of Jada in Come Back and Jungleland.......something about the Skip Raiders captivated my ears right from the start.
Most of you guys will know them for their work on Another Day, most likely the Perfecto Mix, which gave the tune itz well deserved popularity.
in conclusion, i would like to wish Tim & Sandy the best of luck in whatever the future holds for them. Their tunes will never be forgotton.

Think what you want, Another Day is Nice, Ferry's mix of Barbers Adagio is quite possibly one of the best 5 tunes ever made |

Well... I love Ferry's work and that remix is possibly the number one overrated tune in my book. Not a fan. :nervous: |

| I stick by my call, I don't think its overrated at all, it got played a lot but that doesn't make it overrated, It's one of those tunes that have unlimited listening times where it doesn't become boring, another day is ok, im not disputing that, but barbers adagio is more magical imo :) |

I much prefer the deeper, less dutch sounds of Another Day to Adagio. (Though I am usually the first one in line for a huge dutch anthem)
I had the chance to get Skip Raiders f. Jade - Another Day (Perfecto Trance Mix) on vinyl a little while back, it was for $12 as part of a 2 vinyl "Trance Anthems" collection (all other songs were wretched), but I was too cheap. I now regret that move. |
