Hi all, thank you all for reading this. Please, if you have something to add, add it reasonably. I dont want any flaming because I dont mean to offend anyone.

Over the past few raves, actually the word raves I cannot use anymore. There are no more raves... yes its sad, as many people have said, the rave scene is dead.
So over the past few... club events... sigh... I began thinking about the TAs. Are they really trance addicts? I mean, I see all these talks about : "I love PROG! To all ya Junglist! etc..." as much as it is related to trance... its not trance. And all of these cultures are different.. yes very much different. The prog culture comes from the nighclub culture, the Junglist for the underground british parties, and trance comes from the, music loving centre of europe, Germany and sorrounding ries. They have the big parties like StreetParade, LoveParade, etc... The cultures are very very different.

Now you must be saying, "this guy doesn't know bull what he is talking about, I know every single track produced by 150 artists around the world, and the track listing of every set since 2000. And he is teaching me?", but you must step out of that.

Art and music is all about identity. Its uniqueness in ones work of art. Low respect is given to artists who use other people's art or they produce different identities of art for no reason. For that people have one culture, and if a person is seen in two cultures they are given names and referred to as copiers or whatever..

The mass rave scene is almost dead and people act as if it is not. They think, "yea its in the background, lets just attend these club events until a great party/rave begins". Well its not going to be like this, you are not ravers, you are clubbers, saying you love prog and trance, just like the ginos which you make fun of. You are the ginos. Last night at a TA event I saw a TA picking up girls, even doing the dirty grinds. I was disgusted. Next minute I saw some gino, pure gino, big hair, tight white clothes, grinding girls, the gino and the TA were no different.

So after that I began thinking, not that many TAs are actually TranceAddicts. All they are, are lost electronic music lovers looking for "underground movements" just so they can be different. While at the same time, they dont realise the different cultures that is invloved. They still need booze and girls to have a good time and think Trance is everything. A paradox.

Don't bring up the "we are all alike", "unified love", because the Trance rave scene is much different then most people belive.

So please, I ask you, think deeply, are you a TranceAddict? Can you escape your animalistic desires to intertwine yourself with the very energies that make up matter in order for your self to realise some of the most fundemental meanings of the human spirit?

I feel sad. I miss the old rave scene where it was all about Peace Love Unity and Respect.

I hear you to an extent, and since I've never experienced an actual old-style RAVE party, I can't comment on it. But regardless I can answer your question - YES I AM a TRANCEADDICT :).

I would also like to address the grinding issue your brought up. To be honest I don't see anything wrong dancing w/ a girl (I think it's normal, don't you?). However in that particular case, the age diffrence was @ least 5-6 years, I mean the girl was 18 at the most. Bah, yes - it is disgusting.

i dont really have an opinion on what you said except for girls. is it impossible to pick up girls/dance with girls and enjoy the music at the same time? i dont think so.

you can have your opinion if you want, but ill dance with girls weather people like it or not. (although i didnt last night)

Before I start with my opinion, I don't mean to offend or direct this at anyone, I'm simply stating my opinion on Dr. Z's post. :toocool:

I totally don't agree with any of this.
By your definition Im not a tranceaddict at all...actually by your definition I guess I'm a 'gino' (i got the hair, the clothing and the look ;p)
I don't listen to music so I can be some sort of elitist and discard all other genres of music with the mentality that everything else is primitive or inferior. I listen to music so I can enjoy myself, and just have fun! If you enjoy listening to prog, jungle, rock, rap or reggae you name it, then that's ing awseme!
Listening to trance and being addicted to trance doesn't mean you're a raver either. If you're a raver it doesn't mean your a tranceaddict.
And what's wrong with dancing with girls!?!? I'm not gonna dance with guys, dancing by yourself is fine, dancing with girls is better.
It's all about enjoying yourself, not limiting yourself to one thing. Trance is great don't get me wrong, I love it to death. Doesn't mean I can't have booze or dance with girls while listening to it.

Anyways, Did you enjoy yourself last night at least Dr Z?

man, everyone is always bitching about "ohh, i remember back in 96 when i used to rave. why can't it be like that today?" because things change. people change. music changes. i think you're looking into this way too deeply; calling certain members ginos and such, i think you've really alienated your readers with that kind of comment. and that is completely fine, because everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

i do consider myself a tranceaddict, not becuase i have a bajillion sets, or can id every single track that's played. i consider myself a tranceaddict becuase it gives me a feeling no other kind of music will ever give. a feeling that closes you off from everything but the music, and dancing becomes as natural as breathing. it really does put you in a trance.

do you consider yourself a tranceaddict?

ravers are not clubbers
clubbers like prog and trance
therefore ravers do not like trance and prog

by the statements you made about missing the rave scene and all, looks like you're not a true tranceaddict :conf: :p :)

this is just my opinion, but i thought it kinda funny that i could pull out those statements :)

Your logic is wrong. C does not follow from A and B. Its like saying
A. All mothers are women
B. Anna is a woman
C. Therefore Anna is a mother

see where you went wrong with your logic? I'm taking philosophy now, so I thought I'd apply my newfound knowledge ;). So basically your argument is invalid.
mot10n
psh, philosophy is all based on assumptions. see, i'm a psychiatrist, and since you kill people, i'll assume you're crazy. see? SEE?! DSAKFDSAJFKSDAKFSLJFS :p

ya, i know my logic was wrong, but ... but.... YOU'RE AN INVALID!!!! :p

still though, it seems to me you're kinda overplaying this a bit. sometimes people let go, and go a little crazy. can you really pigeonhole them for life? it would've been nice grinding with a chick, but how can you then say that i'm a gino? it seems you're overgeneralizing a bit too much here, tis all.
TrueToTheCrew
Who gives a fk about labels and catagories.

I mainly like trance but still have an open mind towards progressive etc.

I too miss the olden days but the thing i like about the scene not being "underground" is that it allows me as a career focused person to party still. If it was still undergound i cant say for sure i would of achieved all that i have. It adds that bit of reality that we need. Its all about balance. In order to party underground you've gotta be a hardcore "raver".

thats just my opinion.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaanyways, WTF are you talking about? I assume the overplaying part was directed @ me, plz do elaborate.

And don't diss philosophy! Plus I didn't even apply philosophy to shoot your argument down (waaaaaaaaay down :p), its was logic :D.

mot10n
the whole thing about likening TAs to ginos, and asking people if they truely are elite... i mean, tranceaddicts. sometimes people just have fun, and if you can't classify them as something, or rather, classify them as something bad, then that is a really big assumption. ie if i go to a dnb party, and have a wicked time, is it so weird that i like trance too?

i agree with TrueToTheCrew. basically what you're doing in this thread is labelling different people when you have no right or info to do so. same thing when people label other people as ginos, or junglists, or hardcore ravers. it doesn't mean what you are, as long as you enjoy the music.

damnit, my posts were meant to instill a little uppity into this thread... i am having frun with this thread, so all my jokes should be taken lightly, hehe

and my invalid comeback was way better than that "waaaay down" you posted. werd, mofo :D :p (if anyone can't see it, i am joking with this comment. . :stongue: )
mot10n
that's right, FRUN! SCREW YOU!
