Best way to spend $400
View this Thread in Original format

ok so christmas is over, my birthday is tomorrow(read: more money to come) and as of now i have well over 400 bucks that everyone expects me to spend. so my question is if you had a spare 400 bucks laying around what would you buy?
im thinking about getting a 10gb Ipod, but im starting to think, hey i can buy alot o' sh*t with that much money other than an Ipod, so id like to see what everyone else would spend the cash on, maybe i can get an idea or two. if not i might just save it *shrug* i dont "need" much right now and saving might be an intelligent thing to do.

if whatever you can think of comes to say 600 bucks, thats alright too just looking for ideas(dont go overboard though). so let your mind wander and report back :D

what a wierd thread, oh well hopefully it will be useful to someone other than myself who has the same predicament

thanks for the help,

Only buy an Ipod if you'll actually use one. that may seem a fecking stupid thing to say but i got suckered into the portable music thing, it sounds like the best thing ever. i bought the 6 gig archos mp3 (harddrive player), its a fab piece of kit, but i didnt really think about buying it, just did.

Buying one of these players means u have to carry it around with u all the time, and listen to it. and if u listen to music at home, do u really want to in the street aswel? anyway, just think about where u will use it and if its worth the cash. luckerly i sold mine for around half the value i paid for it, so if u get bored of it uve lost half ...

Apart from that, just spend it casually, personally id leave atleast 150 bucks in the bank for a rainy day, they always come, eventually. just coz u have it now doesnt mean u have to spend it. If u saved 150, and 3 months later u meet a nice girl and u wana take her away for the weekend, u can, if uve blown it all on drink and pointless things, well u cant.

Money is there to be enjoyed, but u goto be sensible with it aswel.

can u tell its 2:30am, is it that obvious? lol!!

:D

That's what I would do :D Or else, I'd buy some gear to produce music, but I don't know if you like this kind of stuff :p

have a fine escort come over...hell yeah..

if i had 400 dollars to freely use... i'd probably see if i could get a pair of turntables and a decent mixer (with EQ, hopefully) and a few vinyls but all of that would probably be >400. But yeah.. i want some dj equipment!!!

yeah id love to get some TT's but thats one of those purchases that only leads to spending more money on on stuff like vinyl. and seeing as how i stopped working because of track i dont have a supply of cash to buy such things.

track is the reason i wanted the Ipod though cause we have meets where we have to travel an hour or more sometimes by bus to get to so i need something to keep me occupied.
i listen to music all the time when im home and now that i have a cd player i found that its REALLY nice to have music on the road at meets and stuff so an Ipod would be perfect. its just a lot of money.

bah i just dont know...still looking for alternative expendatures
