Basic Help For Beginner DJs (pg. 12)

| alright.. well, been meanin to get some decks, now i think i'm ready for em. money is tight though so i cant afford anythin uber fancy.. lol.. i wanna stick with some Technics cuz i've heard nothin bad about them. but then i looked into it and realized all these different models. can anyone suggest to me turntables and a mixer that are moderately priced. i've pulled a few from the previous discussions here, but want some that would suit me best. somethin i can use to practice the basics but also use in the latter when (not if:p ) i get better at it.. just simple, maybe a lil scratchin here and there. hope i explained enough to get some info.. fanks in advance:D |

you would be talking about the MK2, M3D, and the MK5
the difference between MK2 and M3D would be a reset pitch button located right next to the pitch slider (if its turned on, no matter where the pitch is at its always @ 0) and there is no "click" at 0 pitch (smooth sliding). Another thing that's different is a recessed on/off switch which helps prevent accidental shut-down. I've heard something about improved electronics but essentially those two tables are the same. Oh, one last thing I can think of right now is the elimination of the ground wire--I believe its built in with the M3D.
Now I am not too sure about this as I do not own a MK5 but if I remember correctly the improvements over the M3D would be an addition of the +/- 16% pitch button so you have the option of using the pitch slider as +/- 8% or +/- 16%. Other than that, the tonearm has been improved and the table is always dressed in a sexcee black.
Since you do not wish to fish out too much dough, I would recommend that you look for good second-hand deals on MK2 and/or M3D. I myself have bought one of each (225 for MK2, and 280 for M3D, both with cases) from ebay and they turned out great. Make sure that you check the seller's ratings and history so you won't get ripped off. Ask him ANY questions you might have about the tables (especially if there are no/very few pictures and info). Has anyone had IRL experience of the Reloop 5000/6000 series players? Is there anything good about them or do they suck? I am considering a pair of either 5000's or 6000's for my setup if I don't have the money for Technics. I tried to google information about those Reloops, but I did not find anything useful..
edit: I searched the forum and got more info.. but it was mostly about the 6000 model. |

| My other question are headphones. My head is about to explode from mixed recommendations. I just need headphones in $100 range. I was thinking about MDR v700, but people say that they break easily. |

| yes, and i can more than attest to that fact, i've gone through 2 of them in the year or so that i've been djing....i would suggest looking into sennhesier or maybe even the technics, if you have a little bit more money, think about the pioneers... |

It is my opinion to buy good shiznit the first time around. If your serious about DJing, then go for it. Buy some technics and a Pioneer mixer or an allen and heath mixer. These are the mixers you will find in most clubs, and these are the tables you will find in almost every club across the nation. So if you want to play out, youll wanna get used to this equipment. The pioneer mixers are pretty durable, but if you abuse them they will fail. Almost every club I have played at that has one, has a problem with their mixer. They usually work, but there is always something small wrong with them. Secondly, this equipment holds its resale value, if you decide you aren't into it anymore, you can get more money for this equipment than you could some cheap stanton or behringer stuff.

please remember, this was over a period of time, not all together...
