| When I'm at home, I like melody much better. But when I'm at party, they're both equally important to me. So it's melody for me. |

it depends..i use to say: never underestimate the power of a single beat. There are moments where ure really into the music and the theres a new beat coming and u go ing mental. Or those techno sets where the dj teases u and plays with the high hats and then drops it and uve got a stadium-like atmosphere(everygody jumping and yelling) in the club. Also Ill never forget how I was lying on thie huge field around the Siegessäule at this year's LP, the trucks all gathered for the big party at night, everybody chilling and suddenly the first dj enters the stage and when the first beat emerged everybody jumped up, hundrethousands at the same time..awesome!!
On the other hand when it comes to emotion melody is also imporant, like when u dance to pretty monotone banging tracks and out of a sudden a melody "approaches"..ure like relieved and lose yourself..those can be divine moments |

melody if it has to be a choice.
that's what makes trance so great, it focuses on the melodies. but on the other hand, many trance records have boring beats, not deep at all, that just don't work too well at a club. The ideal thing is to have both a great melodic work and a good beat under. for an example, Arrakis - Aira Force (Lemon 8 Remix).
I guess that in general, if you prefer the beat you're more likely to like house, while if you prefer the melody you'll like trance. |

Its the harmony of both beat and melody, that makes an ingenious track for me. :tongue2
Its ok if a track is great only in like beats or only melody, but... well... you know. :toocool: |

| I think the melody is more important. Not that the beat isn't, particularly in a club, but after a while you get bored of the continuous thumping if there's nothing more than that. That's where the memory kicks in & sets songs apart. |

I'd have to say I like the beat better. I like hearing a wicked bassline more than a melody...
