I'm just curious so if some TA DJ's could answer this or anyone for that matter, that would grand :) There's gotta be a few tracks that they maybe don't like but they know the crowd will like them.

depends if they are true djs...a real dj will spin what he want but go the way the crowd in going too...a cheese dj spins whatws popular of jsut easy to mix like pete tong

Lots of DJ's spin tracks that people want to hear (e.g. the resident DJ in your local club) and mix it with tracks they really like themselves. The big DJ's usually spin only the tracks they like, but occasionally also spin tracks that the public want. I know Tiësto once said he also plays tracks he is tired of playing (e.g. Lethal Industry) but he has to play them to certain crowds.

I know me personally i dont spin anything i dont like even if I know a certain track is popular witrh a crowd. I like some songs more than others, but everything i spin i love. Its all the matter of taste and skill in taste.

well the way my friend told me when i was first beginning, hesaid in a live performance, dontalways play the best tracks, so dont have a set filled with your favorite stuff, you play some alright tracks, and whne the crowd needs it, you throw in your bomb track

Yea, certain crowds like us stupid americans. Most americans only know Tiesto from his songs (e.g. Urban Train, Lethal Industry), therefore when he plays here, he is expected to play them.

i would spin a track a few times and afterwhile
ill get sick of it, and try not to touch it again.
always need new tracks new sound,
if the newer tracks isnt too good
i get out some of the old favourites and spin those in with the other favourite tunes that im not so sick of yet.

When he came to Boston, he actually didn't play any of his own songs. He spinned mostly what his new style calls for, the new Tiesto! :D At least that was here, he spinned a few songs off of ISOS3 (ie. Way Out West - Mindcircus (Gabriel and Dresdon Remix)).

Haha. Reminds me of Noel Sanger commenting on how he has had Sasha - Ohmna in his record case since 1996, and how he will continue to carry it with him forever.

I agree. If you can't say that you yourself can sit down and listen to the track and enjoy it then why play it for others.
