ok, went to the World last night... i will preface this by saying we had free tickets, otherwise i doubt i would have gone.
anyways, we got there around 11.... very easy to get into times square and into the world. no wait. when we arrived the place was half full. the opening DJ was playing (forgot his name). he was playing pretty good stuff... some nice progressive trance and club tracks.
tiesto came on about 1. some tracks i remember:
Max Graham - Airtight
Andain - Summer Calling (Airwave Club Mix)
DJ Tiesto - Lethal Industry
Way Out West - Mindcircus (Gabriel & Dresden)
Tomcraft - Loneliness
BT track i forget
Picotto track i forget
Solar Factor - Urban Shakedown
Rapid Eye - Circa Forever (Iberia Main Room Mix)
Plastic Boy - Silverbath
DJ Tiesto - Magik Journey (closing track)
Madonna - Die Another Day (Tiesto Rmx) <-- sounded really nice in the club.
James Holden - Horizons
U2 - New Year's Day
Jan Johnston - Flesh (Tiesto Mix)
GTR - Mistral (Original)
Iio - At the End (Scumfrog Remix)
James Holden - Nothing
Roc Project - Never (Tiesto)
he got off the decks at 5... i thought maybe he was taking a break. he came out and shook people's hands and signed some stuff and then went back behind the DJ booth. and that was it. the opening DJ came back on and closed out. we left after half an hour of him to head to a loft party in Brooklyn.
so, this was an OK tiesto show. i was expecting much more for NYE. he should have played for 4 more hours. i would have been really pissed if i had spent money to come to this. and i had to laugh at the people i saw who had paid 400. hope that buffet was good! :)
[edit]
don't get me wrong, i had a great time and tiesto played a great set. i was just hoping for a lot longer for NYE. tiesto's still the man and my #1 DJ. just wanted to clear that bit up :)

| his mixing was tight. don't remember any big mistakes. i forgot to add that one of my friend was coming to meet me, and she asked one of the bouncers if she was at the right place. he said "sure, come on in" and just pulled her in for free. another friend that came around 2 only had to pay $50 at the door. |

yes, beasically because of my label job. we got them from Tiesto's US manager. (big thanks!)
the crowd was not great. you could tell most people there didn't know who he was (and probably didn't care). there was certainly a core of solid Tiesto fans in the house, but way too many people sitting at some of the "VIP" tables and not dancing! the energy definitely from the crowd was definitely not what it should have been, so i'm sure Tiesto was feeling the lack of it.
oh yeah, there were guys there with video cameras and i've heard talk of a Tiesto DVD. hope it happens.
oh, totally off-topic, but i'm happy to annouce that Ultra has signed Armin's "Yet Another Day" for a US release! i am unbelievably excited to be able to work with Armin!!! :D |
