Okay,
well im still on the netstats sytem until feburary! but 2 days ago i checked my stats only to find they were at 1.0 and im like "thats not right" they never go below 8 hehe but anyway i thought that was an opputunity to cut sik! anyway yesterday i looked and it was at 9.1, and the chart showed no record of the 1.0, so obviously optus made a mistake! anyhow today i checked them and im at 10.6 hmmmmmmmm not good! not good at all!
has anyone ever exceeded 10? what happens now? the net is still going well! but it was there fault which made me download!!! |

DataMonitor
* Data Usage and Data Allowance are measured in Megabytes (MB) and for all purposes 1 Gigabyte (GB) = 1000 Megabytes (MB).
Unused Data Allowance in any month can not be rolled into subsequent months.
Should you exceed your plan's monthly data allowance, your data usage will be speed limited to a maximum speed of a 28.8kbps dial up modem. In practice the speed will be limited to a data speed ranging between 20kbps and 28.8kbps. |

dont download anything at all for like a week, they usually cut you a bit of slack but its the average over the last 14 days so its gonna be a couple of weeks until that downloading spree is past you
but if you are over 10 for a few days in a row then they are pretty likely to cancel your service and then its gonna be a lot of time on the phones to get it back |

Philby, Netstats was optus's way of imposing a soft download limit on it's users. Basically the more you downloaded, the higher you netstat ranking would be (it was a scale between 1.0 and basically 10). 10 is the upper limit, if you netstats exceed this I think optus have the right to disconnect your service (permanently).
It sounds kinda ty, but to my mind it's much fairer to have a system like this than to just impose a set cap (550 megs or 3 gigs) as both Optus and Tel$tra are now doing. |
