hmmm
ok
regarding the "instant-remix-in-a-can" thing :D
i think they are really just things he does to amuse himself, and play in his own sets. sure there might be a few of them, but how many does he play each time? 2? 3? in an hour or two set? i dont think all of them are released as his remixes anyway. i mean also, with remixes sounding the same, its a pvd remix so you expect it to sound like pvd! what do u want? if he has a certain style at one time and makes a few remixes with that style, then so what? its his style and his remix. are u gonna complain that push releases lately sound the same? i think they still sound good anyway. i mean i like wavy gravy and i like pvd. pvd remix of wavy gravy? nice! it sounds like wavy gravy and pvd but what do u expect? i admit it doesnt seem technically advanced or anything, and it probably didnt take him long to do but again, i think it sounds alright, pvd fans would think it sounds alright, its exactly what it say it is. it might not even get released, again its just something he does for fun maybe.

and crasher kid:
ok mailing list says 'nothing but you' is his new single...
but maybe you should acknowledge that it samples heavily from 'arctic'
InAcoma
HAHAHAH see u all at pvd in march :p

i think ppl have to face the fact that some of the big dj's are past there prime, not that they dotn have talent just that their time has past. In the case of PvD thats the case his best is over and while he still producers good stuff it's not up to everyones "pvd" standard.
I think this is one ofthe things ppl dont know how to deal with because the stars who are on top today always have been unlike other forms of music thats been going for decades.

the nu breed is waiting in the wings for pvd to start playing nursing homes & 21st birthdays :p

Crasher Kid starfox is someone who posts in the music discussion forum and LOVES paul van dyk, to the point of banning someone who said that he sucked. Look at his posts and see what I mean.

First and foremost the mailing list is directly from Vandit which is ultimately run and managed with help from others by Paul himself.
If your questioning the accuracy and legitimacy of the labeling of Nothing But You you shouldnt be questioning me by any right - you tried to justify your arguments saying that all his Remixes sound the same; but you failed to recognized what i said in an earlier post:

quote:
Ghostland - Feat. Sinnead O' Connor - Guide Me God (Paul van Dyk Remix)
&
Paul van Dyk - Nothing But You

One is a production and the other a Remix

Secondly, a little investigation had lead me to a greater clairification regarding this Artic track and its ownnership to Paul whether it be under the title of Nothing But You or Artic (under its original name by H&J)

Well I beg to differ. Just because Vandit are releasing it as his, doesn't mean it's his. At the end of the day it's still a remix of someone else's track.

The track originally belonging to Hemstock & Jennings was labeled as Arctic - the track when released on white labels etc. drew alot of attention especially by the likes of Paul - as a result Paul grew found of the track and began to make queries about its origin and the artists; in essence: he liked it - alot.

Paul like the perfectionist that he is admired the tracks structure and found elements that would his style of track and immediately began proposing ways of manipulating the sounds to create a desired result.

Paul began to see elements in that track that he admired but began to take the intiative over a period of time to improve them - a Dj of his calibre hes an element but looks further into methods to which they can be improved.

In the duration to which he was working on artic he was busy Remixing Ghostland's Guide Me God to which has the signiture Paul sound of the 'cowbells' and nothing more.

Les in the duration of the process became quite happy with the results that he had heard - he was pleased that a Dj such as Paul had taken the intiative of reworking one of their tracks.

This resulted in Les being invited to Berlin to recieve the pretigious Remix rights to 'Rendezvous' as a token of appreciation for Les's co-operation and the giving of Artic.

Further; whilst in Berlin Paul confirmed to Les his intentions of what is now called Nothing But You which resulted in Paul buying the rights to arctic.

Hemstock & Jennings - Arctic has now been recalled & deleted.

The track officially belongs to Paul & his label Vandit.

I rest my case.

And just to think. The subject of this big debate boils down to someone playing some vinyl on a machine that picks up it's etching on a pretty silly needle which it amplifies into music (and thats another discussion entirely) which he then mixes with more vinyl to produce a "set"

What amuses me to no end on this site and half the reason i can't be assed posting much anymore is the endless and ultimately pointless flame wars and debates over stuff as silly as this.

Grow up kids
Philby
this isn't a flamewar and it isn't pointless
you will have noticed the title of the site? tranceaddict? people addicted to trance? people who have a passion for the music? people who look up to producers and djs? if there are disagreements on things and people with different opinions of course threads like this happen. i dont think this is a silly debate, there have been good points on either side and it hasnt degenerated (not much anyway!) into a "no you are wrong head" type thread either.
have a nice day :)
